The Uptown Pop Up Market on Saturday was a fun event for the neighborhood. In addition to Mike’s food truck offering burritos and tacos, 20 plus vendors sold baked goods, notecards, jams and jellies, denim purses, Mexican shoes, hair scrunches, African jewelry, lotions and art. Liberty Mutual and Celsius handed out free drinks. There were so many amazing talented people selling their craft. From leatherwork to teeshirts everyone had such great products to share with the community. Thank you to all the vendors and to all the neighbors who came out to support. The hosts of the event were Uptown on the hill and the Turnverein Dance Center. We look forward to seeing you all again at out next event!

Come check out all the wonderful vendors tomorrow. With 30 booths there is sure to be something for everyone!

Uptown’s going to bloom and shine!

Free flower seeds

The Parks and Beautification Committee has collected many varieties of annual and perennial flower seeds and is offering them to all. Get your envelopes of seeds this coming Saturday at the trash pick-up or at the Uptown PopUp Market on May 14. More info on both follows.

Trash pick-up

We’ll gather at the corner of 17th Ave. and Downing at 9 a.m. Meet your neighbors while enjoying a complimentary donut and water, then spread out to pick up the trash off nearby outlawns. We’ll have some gloves and trash bags on hand, but it wouldn’t hurt to bring your own.

Uptown PopUp Market

Vendors are signing up, and this promises to be a fun event. Stop by the Denver Turnverein parking lot, 16th Ave. and Clarkson, on Saturday, May 14, between 9 and 2 and check out their wares. Food trucks will be on hand to add spice to the party.

Denver’s Department of Transportation and Infrastructure (DOTI) is reminding residents that street sweeping season starts tomorrow, April 1, and is asking people to check the red and white signs on their block for parking restrictions and move their car on their street sweeping day to avoid a $50 citation.

Denver’s annual street sweeping program removes dirt and debris off city streets, keeping it out of our air and water and making our environment cleaner and healthier. Denver asks residents to move their cars on their street sweeping day so the sweepers can reach all the way to the curb line where dirt accumulates. The removal of debris also prevents storm sewer inlets from getting clogged.

In addition to checking the red and white signs on their block, residents can look up street sweeping schedules and sign up for email/text reminders atwww.pocketgov.com. The posted street season runs April through November.

Sincerely,
DOTI Communications

Welcome to a new Uptown business!

Praise the Paw Dog Grooming has moved from Sixth Ave. to 433 E. 17th Ave. Their philosophy: “To treat your pet to a grooming session that is focused on their individual needs. We use the best products customized to their skin and coat. Your doggy is allowed to play and roam freely in a supervised room rather than being caged. We groom by appointment to have your pet done as quickly as possible.”

Denver City Council voted to reduce the residential speed limit from 25 mph to 20 mph. From 9News: “The change would apply to roads without a center line or stripe.

Not only will the city replace the existing speed limit signs, but they will relocate them to more logical locations, like where drivers leave a busy street and turn on to a residential one.

Jill Locantore, Executive Director of Denver Streets Partnership, said this isn't a "silver bullet," but it will help.

“We need to increase the resources overall for addressing this public health crisis on our streets, and we need to use every tool available to us," she said.”
