Domestic Violence Statistics continue to dwarf gang-related activity:

* Scope: About 10 million people in the U.S.A. experience domestic violence each year compared to roughly 770,000 estimated gang members nationwide.

* Victimization: Nearly 1 in 4 women have endured severe physical violence from a partner- levels of harm far beyond the reach of gang activity.

* Frequency: Domestic violence hotlines field roughly 20,800 calls a day, and every minute about 20 people in the U.S.A. are physically abused by an intimate partner. Females were 84% of spousal abuse victims and 86% of abuse victims at the hands of a boyfriend.

* Fatalities: More than three women are killed daily by partners or ex-partners.

* Children: Some 15.5 million children witness domestic violence each year, fueling cycles of trauma and abuse.

Stopping gender-based violence starts with us: believe survivors, learn the warning signs, challenge harmful norms, support shelters, and demand stronger protections. Silence keeps violence alive. We all have a role in ending it.
