~ Thoughts from the Community ~

"Our teacher sometimes has many students to help at once, so I cannot always ask my questions right away.

On those days, I open my dictionary and find the picture myself, checking the word in all three languages before raising my hand.

Most of the time, I understand it without even needing to ask anymore. This makes me feel proud, like I do not always need someone else to teach me everything.

This little book taught me that I am capable of learning things on my own, not just waiting for someone to explain."

Imagine finding a book for the first time that speaks your language and reflects your culture 📚😍

~ Thoughts from the Community ~

"Before this dictionary, I could say some words but I did not know how to write them correctly, especially in English.

Now every evening I copy five new words from the pictures into my exercise book, writing them slowly and carefully in all three languages.

Last week my teacher checked my notebook and said my handwriting and spelling had improved a lot.

I still make mistakes sometimes, but I am not afraid of writing anymore, because I always have the correct word right there in my dictionary to check."

If you’ve ever taught ESL, you know how overwhelming and out of place students can sometimes feel in a new classroom. Something as simple as a resource that reflects a student’s language and culture can help them feel seen, valued, and like they belong ❤️

~ Thoughts from the Community ~

"This dictionary is the first book that is truly mine, with my name written inside the cover in my own handwriting.

I keep it wrapped in a plastic bag so it does not get wet or dirty, and I do not let my younger cousins take it outside the shelter.

It is more than a school book to me; it feels like a small valuable thing that belongs only to me, something no one can take away."
