Last Saturday, several local residents walked and rolled through a few select streets in the neighborhood. No surprise: the people who get around this neighborhood every day know it best - and they have some ideas!

Swipe to see our route and a few of the spots we think could use a little more love ➡️

Here are some of the ideas we heard:
🚸 Safer crosswalks, maybe even raised ones
🌧️ Rain gardens that double as traffic diverters to reduce cut-through traffic and speeding
🌻 Curb bump-outs turned into mini gardens that soak up water runoff
🔄 Green roundabouts to slow down traffic
🚲 Clearer bike lanes so riders feel safer on the road

What’s the spot on 14th Ave (or another West Colfax street) that drives you nuts?

An intersection where nobody stops? A sidewalk that’s more crack than concrete? A bus stop that bakes in the sun? A place where wheelchairs or strollers simply can’t get to?

Evie, our West Colfax neighbor, has a simple way of getting to know the streets of the community: walk slowly, stay curious, and bring friends along. 👀

“The way we experience our environment, even if we don’t notice it all the time, has such an impact on quality of life.”

Last weekend, Evie and a group of neighbors trained with Pedestrian Dignity so they can guide upcoming walks to check out the safety, accessibility, and areas of opportunity in the West Colfax community. Now they’re ready, and they want you to come along!

We’ll stroll - and roll - together, stop at a few locations, and talk about what we love and what we’d change. No experience needed, just a little curiosity. And you’ll meet plenty of neighbors along the way. 🤝
