The Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center at Lowry has 24 suites with patios. Community connections help make important health care information more accessible!

Recently, Dee Licona, The Denver Hospice Director of Business Development, and Kathleen Trapani, The Denver Hospice Community Liaison, attended the Older Adult Health Expo at the Highlands Ranch Senior Center.

They shared helpful information about advance directives and the differences between home health, palliative care and hospice care, helping attendees better understand their options and plan for their future.

And, of course, they brought along some fall treats to add a little seasonal fun to the day!

Thank you to the Highlands Ranch Senior Center for hosting this opportunity to connect with older adults and share resources that support informed decisions and well-being.

Yesterday afternoon, The Denver Hospice welcomed families and friends to Light Up A Life, the Louann and Micky Miller Memorial Wall Remembrance Ceremony.

It was a meaningful afternoon of reflection, remembrance and hope as loved ones gathered to honor those who have died and to see their names on the memorial wall at The Denver Hospice Inpatient Care Center.

During the ceremony, family members and friends were invited to pour colored sand into a cylindrical glass container as the names of their loved ones were read aloud. Once the sand had been added, the container was placed in front of the memorial wall as a lasting tribute to the lives being remembered.

Each grain of sand represents a life, a memory and a love that remains.

As the individual grains come together, they symbolize the lasting connections we share with those we have lost. Each grain remains unique, just as every person remembered on the Louann & Micky Miller Light Up A Life Memorial Wall is unique and deeply cherished.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and helped create such a beautiful space for remembering, honoring and keeping loved ones close in our hearts.

Sometimes, the most meaningful acts of kindness begin with a simple connection.

Michelle Bressette, Quality Coordinator for Care Synergy, recently reconnected with her dear friend and colleague from Iliff School of Theology, potter Jessa Decker-Smith. Jessa had recently crafted more than 40 beautiful handmade urns and wanted them to find their way to families who might need them.

Michelle reached out to The Denver Hospice to see if the urns could be shared with hospice families. The response was an immediate yes — and The Denver Hospice team is already finding families who can use these one-of-a-kind pieces as a lovely final resting place for someone they love.

We are so grateful to Jessa for creating these thoughtful works of art and generously offering them to families in need. And thank you to Michelle for recognizing an opportunity to turn a personal connection into something that will bring comfort to others.

This is a wonderful reminder of the power of community connections. When people share their time, talents and resources, those connections can make a very real difference for hospice patients and families.

Saturday’s Walk to End Alzheimer’s at Denver’s City Park was a powerful day of community, connection and remembrance for The Denver Hospice.

Our team was honored to join thousands of people who came together to support those living with Alzheimer’s disease and the families and caregivers who walk alongside them.

But one of the most meaningful parts of the morning happened at The Denver Hospice booth. Again and again, people stopped by to share stories about how The Denver Hospice cared for their loved ones and supported their families during an important and often difficult time in their lives.

One TDH employee said: “I heard from spouses, daughters, sons and even neighbors of patients that The Denver Hospice cared for and felt they could have not done it with our team. They spoke of our CNAs being gentle with their mom, social workers facilitating respite, chaplains sitting down with their father with an open heart, nurses walking through the death process to ease worries and after-hours teams coming at 11pm to help with pain crises.”

Hearing those stories was a powerful reminder of the difference our team makes — not only in the moments when we are providing care, but in the memories and relationships that remain long after.

On a day centered around community, it was especially meaningful to hear so many members of our community tell us what The Denver Hospice has meant to them.

We are grateful for every person who stopped by to share a story, say thank you or simply connect with our team. Your words mean more than you know.

We’re excited to share that The Denver Hospice has been accepted to participate in the 2026 Colorado Combined Campaign (CCC)!

The CCC is the official workplace giving program for employees of the State of Colorado and higher education institutions. Since 1987, the campaign has connected public servants with nonprofit organizations working to strengthen communities across Colorado.

For The Denver Hospice, being part of the CCC is about more than an opportunity to receive support. It’s another meaningful way to connect with people across our community and share the importance of compassionate hospice and end-of-life care.

We’re grateful for the opportunity to be part of a program that brings people and nonprofits together around causes that matter.

This week, we celebrated something truly special at The Denver Hospice: the people who have dedicated years of their lives to caring for patients and families.

At the first annual Care Synergy Service Awards Celebration, employees across the Care Synergy Network were recognized for milestone anniversaries ranging from 5 to 30 years. Among them were 29 remarkable team members from The Denver Hospice, whose combined years of service represent decades of compassion, commitment and meaningful connections with the patients and families we serve.

Last night, The Denver Hospice gathered with members of our community for another Candlelight Remembrance Ceremony, creating a quiet and meaningful space to honor and remember loved ones who have passed.

The evening included the reading of names, photo displays and time for shared reflection, culminating in a candlelight ritual. Together, those gathered had an opportunity to celebrate the lives of those they have lost while finding comfort in the presence of others who understand the journey of grief.

On a day when our nation collectively pauses to mourn and remember, the ceremony offered a powerful reminder that we do not have to remember alone. There is comfort in coming together, sharing memories and holding space for one another.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening a meaningful tribute to the people we carry in our hearts.

At The Denver Hospice, we believe some of the best ideas for strengthening our organization come from the people who know it best: our team members.

This morning, The Denver Hospice Employee Council brought together team members from across the organization and from a variety of roles. The council creates a space for employees to share their perspectives, contribute ideas and have a voice in conversations that help shape the future of our organization.

It’s one way we’re working to strengthen communication, support thoughtful decision-making and build a workplace culture grounded in transparency and trust.

And sometimes, the feedback we hear reminds us why this work matters so much. One Employee Council member shared something a nurse recently said:

“The Denver Hospice has rescued me from nurse burnout.”

That means a lot to us. We want The Denver Hospice to be a place where people feel supported, connected and able to make a difference, while caring for our patients, families and one another.

We’re grateful to everyone who serves on the Employee Council and shares their voice. We’re excited to see how this group continues to help The Denver Hospice listen, learn and grow together.

At The Denver Hospice, providing exceptional care means always looking for ways to listen, learn and improve. That includes listening to the people who know our work best: our employees.

That’s why The Denver Hospice recently created an Employee Council, bringing together team members from across the organization and from a variety of roles. Employees were invited to apply and share why they wanted to be part of this new initiative.

One response stood out as a wonderful reflection of the thoughtful, engaged people who make up our team:

“My motivation for joining the The Denver Hospice Council comes from a genuine desire to contribute to a community that values collaboration, accountability, and forward-thinking leadership. I’m drawn to spaces where people are willing to challenge assumptions, elevate standards, and build systems that actually work for the people they’re meant to serve.

I’m interested in the Council because I see it as an opportunity to bring my perspective, my lived experience, and my commitment to thoughtful problem-solving into a group that’s shaping meaningful outcomes.
