The connection between one generation to another. My father taught me how to be a father. He once told me"if you have to raise your voice to your children you're not a good parent" "if you never showed your kids how they should behave that's your fault not theirs." "It's easy to yell and scream at your kids, harder to show them how to live." " remember you're their parents not their friends, friends come and go but you're a parent forever." My dad died in my arms when I was 22 I still feel his love.

As Father's Day approaches I take stock of all that I have. The greatest things in my life are my kids. I look at them with pride and think they could be out partying like some of their friends instead they are here at home with me and their mom. I look at my youngest and see he has become a man. For 10 years I was gone I missed watching him grow into this gental giant of a man. For 10 years I helped other men and women care for their families while I was missing my own children's lives. While two lived with me for afew years they moved back to help their mom. We used to stand on green mountain every 4th of July to watch fireworks across Denver. When they left I stood on the mountain alone in the rain just to honor what we had. I now see them everyday but they work two and three jobs to make ends meet. I feel I should be caring for them still. To me they are babies. Since the stroke and amputation I've become a burden. All I can do is tell them how much I love them and hold on to them. Moms and dads hold on to your kids because you never know when they will slip away.

We will be finishing our first class of the new group within the next three weeks. We are going slow building up as we go. Great friends and community have helped make this a great adventure.

Well friends we’ve had a good run but it looks like it’s time put away our things away and call it quits. I have been trying to keep the fatherhood group going but without any funding we aren’t able to provide the kind of program our mothers and fathers need. Many people have been stepping forward over the last couple years and tried hard to help but I don’t see us going much farther so tonight I’m stopping the strong fathers program. When I can’t provide the basics for the group it’s time to shut down. Thank you to all those who have done so much for our Native parents over the years.

We are starting the Fatherhood/Motherhood classes up again. We are taking it slow for a while, someone has taken our supplies for the church. Not sure why but it will take some time to restock. But we will move forward as best we can.
