We thank and commend Regent Ilana Spiegel and the entire University of Colorado Board of Regents for their strong resolution condemning the Boulder Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) post glorifying the Boulder firebombing attack. We also thank the University of Colorado Boulder for denouncing Boulder SJP's statement and making clear that "glorification of violence is abhorrent" and does not reflect university values.

The Board's resolution puts it plainly: "Harming and killing innocent people is not resistance. Those actions do not lead to justice and they should never be celebrated." We are grateful to university leadership for standing firm on this principle that antisemitism and hate must not be tolerated at CU Boulder or anywhere.

Governor Jared Polis signed HB26-1141 into law yesterday. The bill closes a critical gap in Colorado civil rights law to help protect students in public K-12 schools and public colleges and universities from harassment and discrimination. ADL proudly supported this bill and worked closely with the bill sponsors and community partners to push it across the finish line. Many thanks to Governor Jared Polis, Representative Jennifer Bacon, Kolker for Colorado, Senator Janice Marchman and Michael Carter for Colorado.

One year ago today, a man firebombed Jewish community members on Boulder's Pearl Street Mall. Karen Sorin Diamond z"l, an 82-year-old mother and grandmother, did not survive.

We are living through one of the most violent surges of antisemitism in modern history, according to ADL's 2025 Audit of Antisemitic Incidents. The Jewish community needs everyone right now, and our Regional Director, Susan Rona, outlines exactly how folks can champion positive change in her TIME op-ed, "The Boulder Tragedy One Year Later":

"It means speaking up when you hear antisemitism dismissed as harmless in person and online. It means pushing back when hatred is disguised as political commentary. It means gathering support for the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, so that houses of worship and other non-profits can protect themselves. It means urging Congress to pass the SACRED Act, which would protect worshippers from intimidation outside houses of worship."
