SB26-133 Colorado Artist Company Act, sponsored by Senators Bridges and Catlin and Reps Martinez and Taggart, passed the Senate last month and is assigned to the House Business Affairs & Labor Committee. That crucial House committee hearing is on Wednesday, May 6.

This committee hearing is a critical step in order to pass this bill before the end of the legislative session on May 13. SB26-133 is a first-in-the-nation bill that would empower and benefit artists. It offers a blueprint to create a business that provides greater protection, access to capital, and collaboration for artists of all kinds.

Artificial intelligence company Anthropic has agreed to pay $1.5 billion to settle a class-action lawsuit by book authors who say the company took pirated copies of their works to train its chatbot.

The Colorado Creative Industries (CCI) division of OEDIT promotes, supports and expands our state’s creative industries to drive Colorado’s economy, grow jobs and enhance our quality of life. Through collaboration and working with partners like the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), CCI is able to support Colorado’s creative economy. Recently, the NEA announced funding for the arts in all 50 states, Puerto Rico, and Washington, DC.
