Update following our statement last week: The Trump Administration was required to consult with Congress and establish a new target for refugee admissions for the coming year before October 1st....but we’re still waiting. ⏱ 👀

Even while the federal government is shut down, members of Congress are still on the job and stranded refugees need immediate action. Now is an urgent time to call on our elected leaders and urge them to support the refugee resettlement program and ensure it protects the most at-risk refugees around the world.

Take action care of our allies at CWS:

TAKE ACTION: Stand With Stranded Refugees as the Administration Sets New Refugee Admissions Target September 28, 2025 With just days until the new fiscal year, now is a critical moment for advocacy in support of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program and for all those who have been left stranded by the...

The U.S. must uphold its longstanding global humanitarian leadership and do what is best for communities across the country by embracing the immense socioeconomic and cultural contributions of refugees.

RACC calls for a robust Presidential Determination on Refugee Admissions for FY26.

Four years after the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan is already too long for our Afghan allies awaiting the peace of mind of permanent residency in the U.S.

The Refugee Action Coalition of Colorado is calling on Congress to act immediately to provide a pathway to permanent residency for Afghans who came to the U.S. as humanitarian parolees and who are at risk of being deported back to Afghanistan. The Afghan Adjustment Act & Fulfilling Promises to Afghan Allies Act have bipartisan support and should be passed without delay.

We celebrate this victory in solidarity with our allies at International Refugee Assistance Project and welcomers across the country. We will continue to stand up for refugees who are stranded by the Trump administration and demand the full reinstatement of the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program!

RACC opposes the federal budget package that would harm refugees and humanitarian entrants and we particularly urge Congresswoman Lauren Boebert, Rep. Jeff Crank, Congressman Gabe Evans, and Rep. Jeff Hurd to withdraw their support for H.R. 1 unless and until these provisions are removed.

Coloradans welcome refugees and we reject a cruel and un-American federal budget bill that would be detrimental to Colorado's society and economy!

Thanks again to the resplendent Kantorei for their incredible performance of Yearning to Breathe, the moving repertoire presented last night to benefit RACC Refugee Action Coalition of Colorado. Cheers also to the fantastic Colorado Refugee Speakers Bureau member Oliver Fon for introducing the event, grounding us in the invaluable lived experience and insight of refugee Coloradans. And to all who joined us in the audience–your generosity and fellowship mean more to us than you know!

If you missed the concert you can still donate today! A remarkable benefactor will be matching all donations up to $2,000 through tonight! At this urgent time when the welcoming and well being of refugees are under attack, we must come together in advocacy to protect and support our refugee neighbors!

The federal budget reconciliation bill that’s now headed to the Senate would have sweeping and devastating impacts on refugees, newcomers, and other marginalized communities by cutting programs they count on! Slashing over $700 billion from healthcare and Medicaid to help subsidize tax breaks for the wealthy and big corporations would harm hundreds of thousands of Coloradans.

In solidarity with CWS, allies at RefugeeOne, and other welcomers, we encourage you to contact Senator Bennet & Senator Hickenlooper to remind them that Coloradans insist on protecting vulnerable communities, including newcomers. Use this link to reach out:

Support a refugee today…+ yesterday, tomorrow, & beyond!

Following up on last month's open letter to the Trump administration that garnered 400+ individual signatories and endorsements by dozens of organizations, yesterday Refugee Action Coalition of Colorado (RACC) members from Spring Institute for Intercultural Learning & allies gathered for a postcard writing campaign addressed to Colorado's congressional delegation.

In 60+ handwritten messages, we reminded our federal legislators that Coloradans unequivocally welcome refugees. We urged them to do everything in their power to help restore the U.S. Refugee Admissions Program (USRAP) after the president suspended and defunded it during the first weeks after his inauguration.

Special thanks to our friendly office neighbor and refugee business owner, Ibrahim, for hosting us at the lovely Denver Coffee Time Cafe! Pay a visit to the parlor of the First Baptist Church at 1373 Grant Street from 7am - 4pm, Monday to Saturday and sample his Ethiopian coffee and inspired food!
