BREAKING: ICE detained Native American actress from Northern Exposure, and told her tribal ID “fake.” This should horrify every American.

Elaine Miles, the powerhouse who played Marilyn Whirlwind on Northern Exposure, said she was simply walking to a bus stop near Bear Creek Village in Redmond on Thanksgiving when four masked men jumped out of unmarked black SUVs and demanded her ID. She handed them her valid CTUIR tribal identification. One reportedly sneered that “anyone can make that.” Another allegedly dismissed the document outright as fake.

She pointed to the enrollment office number printed on the back and asked them to verify. They refused. When she tried to call herself, they allegedly reached for her phone.

"Then, I got my phone out, ‘I’ll f***in call the Tribe for you.’ They tried taking my phone! Son of a b***hes make me sick & angry! Racist BIGOTS and one of them was Mexican! Told him you’re a disgrace to your people. They suppose to be taking the ‘r*pist, felon, robbers, drug n human traffickers’ not women going to a bus stop."

It’s important to remember that Native Americans from federally recognized tribes are U.S. citizens under federal law. Their citizenship has been recognized for more than a century.

But beyond that is the deeper irony: SHE has more right to this land than anyone. Her people have been here for 10,000+ years. The masked ICE thugs are simply terrorists who represent a regime trying to erase that history.

This is what happens when a country lets fear, cruelty, and Trump-era ideology seep into every institution. When agents feel empowered to intimidate Native women at bus stops, democracy is rotting from the inside out. Fascism never arrives in grand gestures. It shows up in small moments, in unmarked SUVs, in masked men who think they decide who counts as American.

Disgusting.

Trump is stripping food assistance from working families to pay for his war.

It shouldn’t be this way.

Trump calls it a record. Democrats call it cruelty. 48 million Americans faced food insecurity in 2024. Grocery prices haven't gone down. The debate: did 3.3 million people stop needing help — or did the rules change?

Trump told the FII PRIORITY Summit in Miami on March 25 that his administration "lifted 3.3 million Americans off food stamps." Rep. Jim McGovern fired back: "What a crock. He didn't lift anyone — he kicked them off." McGovern said real solutions mean raising wages, lowering food costs, expanding healthcare and providing school meals.

The CBO tied the drop directly to expanded work requirements in Trump's "One Big Beautiful Bill Act," which cut $187 billion from SNAP over 10 years — the largest in the program's history. The average recipient gets $6 a day. Nearly 48 million Americans faced food insecurity in 2024. After the cuts, the USDA canceled its annual food insecurity survey.

Trump's team says the cuts fight fraud and move people into work. Critics say people lost benefits because rules changed — not because groceries got cheaper or wages went up.

Kicked off food stamps, mother of six says her family will starve.

“It’s really bad… we don’t know what we’re going to eat today or tomorrow. It seems like the Trump administration is just letting people starve.

I have six kids… I don’t know what I’m gonna do without food stamps. My family is gonna starve without government assistance.”

Maybe if you put in as much time getting an education and filling out job applications as you do spreading your legs, you wouldn't need food stamps.
