Biking for Kids Under Fire

Biking for Kids Under Fire Here is the video we have just completed that tells the story of "Biking for Kids Under Fire"
http:// They were very enthusiastic.

Thousands of rockets and missiles have been fired from Gaza toward Israeli villages near to the border with Gaza. Everyone, including children, have had to spend hours in air raid shelters. With only 15 seconds to get to a shelter, can you imagine the emotional strain and physical danger of living under this daily threat? As many of us here in Denver, Colorado talked this over, we felt that gettin

g children to a safe place where they could be outdoors and participate in a physical activity might relieve the stress and promote a sense of more well-being. The link between mental health and physical activity has been well documented, and we talked about developing a program that would build on this. We contacted one of the Israeli border communities--Kibbutz Nachal Oz -- and officials from two regional councils and asked what they thought of this idea. Thus, Biking for Kids Under Fire was born

Awful fire attacks continue as "kites," rockets, bombs are launched from Gaza in an attempt to burn Israeli kibbutzim, the land there and around, nature preserves, people, etc. These photos show some scenes. We send our concern and our support to Israeli children and adults having to live with the fears and tensions 24/7 of their most "unpeaceful" Gazan neighbors trying to wreak murder and carnage.

The camera can’t convey the smell of smoke, nor the feeling of anger, pain and helplessness, but it accurately perpetuates the reality of life in communities on the Gaza border: The yellow fields painted black, the scorched nature reserves, and the firefighters and farmers together trying to save ...

The Harris and Sulzer families had such an AMAZING and moving visit to one of the bike clubs at K'far Aza this summer. The program is doing an incredible job of helping the kids along the Gaza border to feel empowered and in control of their lives. The experience was an absolute highlight of our trip to Israel! This is a program worthy of support and we encourage anyone traveling to Israel to pay them a visit.

We are interested in someone doing a study of the benefits to the children & even their parents of having the cycling clubs. We are also ready to consider opening another club for a village on or near the Gaza border. Herzl Melmed, Chairman ActionIsrael

Ulla, the leader of one of our biking clubs along the Gaza border, writes of activities these days. After withstanding constant bombardment from Gaza and the fear of Gazan terrorists digging tunnels under Israeli land so as to appear in Israeli homes, this quote is certainly right on the mark: "Nothing happens without having an affect on young children spirits."

So Hamas has its victory picture now. How proud it must be. Daniel Tragerman, aged 4 — sweet, innocent, angel-faced fan of soccer star Lionel Messi and crime-fighter Spider-Man; too young to cross the road alone, but old enough to know to dash to the protected room at his Kibbutz Nahal Oz home. Except that on Friday, with three seconds between the alarm and the fatal fall of a mortar shell outside, he didn’t make it
