📢 This year, DCTA members showed what’s possible when educators organize together.

From winning a new contract and electing pro-public education leaders to fighting for better working and learning conditions and investment in public schools, every win happened because members took action. ✊

On this May Day, educators, students, workers, and community members stood shoulder to shoulder to demand a better system that puts workers over billionaires. ✊

Together, we lined Alameda for Allies on Alameda and came together at Wash Park in a powerful show of solidarity with unions, students and community fighting for more than just getting by, because our fights are shared fights.

We march today, organize tomorrow, and vote, because our power comes from our communities uniting, organizing, and winning together.

The fight for the 8-hour workday didn’t end with the Haymarket Affair. It’s still playing out in our schools and communities.

Billionaires like Philip Anschutz hold outsized power while our schools are underfunded and families are stretched thin.

That’s why May Day is about all of us. Workers, immigrant families, and young people organizing for dignity, safety, and a real voice.

Join us a Know Your Rights training focused on helping the community navigate encounters with immigration enforcement.

We will also cover next steps and actionable ways to help protect our students and communities.

Denver showed up strong at the CEA Delegate Assembly 💪

Together, we took a stand for our working conditions, our students’ learning conditions, and a system that works for working people, not the wealthy one percent.

This weekend was powerful, but we’re just getting started. Join us for International Workers Day May Day: Allies on Alameda on May 1 at 4:00 PM.

We’re coming together with workers, students, and community members across Denver to stand up to billionaire influence and show what it looks like when we stand united. We’ll line Alameda from Cherokee to Steele in a visible show of solidarity, then gather at Wash Park at 5 PM for speeches, celebration, and solidarity. ✊

📢 Last night, Educators delivered a petition to the DPS Board and Superintendent, calling for class size and workload relief and urging the district to honor what’s already been negotiated in the DCTA contract!

High school English teacher Josh Thompson painted a picture of what overcrowded classrooms actually look like:

“It’s easy to throw out numbers like 35 students in a classroom or 130 across five periods. But in reality, it’s students packed in with no space, and educators stretched thin trying to meet every need. Then we’re expected to plan and grade in chaotic shared spaces. That’s how class size and workload collide.”

DCTA, DAEOP, and FMA members showed up and spoke out at DPS public comment, calling on the Board to invest in dedicated, high quality educators by supporting a mill levy override and strengthening our neighborhood public schools, not closing them.

Because when we invest in educators and neighborhood public schools, we invest in students. And when our schools are supported, our entire community grows stronger!

📢 This May Day, we invite our community across Denver to come together in a visible demonstration of unity, solidarity, and collective power. We are mobilizing working people across Denver to challenge billionaire influence over our communities and demand investment in schools, workers, and our beloved communities!

This action is part of a broader nationwide May Day effort, bringing together labor unions, young people, immigrant-led organizations, and community groups. ✊

Join us for our “Allies on Alameda” action on May 1, 2026, beginning at 4:00 PM. Together we’ll line Alameda Avenue, from the intersections of Cherokee to Steele.
