As we prepare to celebrate the YCD Changemakers Gala on Saturday, September 13, YCD is thrilled to announce this year's Community Changemaker of the Year: Janet Sammons!
As many of those connected to the YCD network already know, Janet supported youth back in 1993 when they wanted to start a diversity conference to address the social issues and challenges they were facing, but were considered too controversial to discuss in school. This annual effort turned into the Cherry Creek Diversity Conference, which has since blossomed into the year-round program now known as Youth Celebrate Diversity (YCD)!
Having served in a leadership capacity with our organization since its founding, this year Janet made the courageous decision to step down as Board Chair for our organization. We are forever grateful for the time, dedication, and impact Janet has had on literally thousands of lives through the YCD program, and are thrilled to be honoring her with a changemaker award at this year's gala.
We invite you to join us in person at the Denver Art Museum on September 13, if able, to celebrate Janet's contributions over a 32-year history with our organization! And if you're not able to join us in person, we invite you to donate to empower the next generation of changemakers.
