Great presentation about Shavuot and The Jewish Experience by DJCC board member Jonathan Defez this morning! If you don't know Jonathan, here's more about him:
Jonathan was president of the Denver Jewish Chamber for several years, many years ago. At that time, he was in sales/account management for an IT support company. He received and offered many B2B (Business to Business) referrals. The Jewish Chamber was always a cornerstone of the networking portion of his business development.
He began transitioning out of his sales career and back into his original career in social work and psychotherapy. Jonathan received an MSW from the University of Denver and currently works at the community mental health center, AllHealth Network. He loves the experience of helping others.
He says:
But DON'T send me any referrals (yes, you heard that right). We work with the county, the Department of Corrections, and other agencies to serve populations in need. Please send your referrals for folks needing therapy to Gitit Kaufman and our other excellent psychotherapist members.
How can you help me? Simple. Be open to Jewish learning. I’m on the board of a Jewish outreach organization called The Jewish Experience. Contrary to general belief, this organization does NOT cater to Orthodox Jews. Rather, they outreach to ALL Jews, wherever they are on their journeys, to help them find the unique reason they are Jewish and to help express that. Jewish learning is not just about accumulating more information about history, customs, and prayers. It is more about self-discovery, learning what drives you and your relationship with God.
If you want to learn more about their programs and ways to get involved, visit theje.com. You can also reach out to me directly at one of the monthly networking events. I'm happy to attend a Jewish Experience event, so you don’t have to go alone!
