Triumphant Faces represent all of the Excelsior youth and families who have overcome challenges and found success. Excelsior helps youth and families find the courage and strength to beat overwhelming odds.
Each child and each family has a different story, but they have one thing in common – trauma. Excelsior’s youth have experienced too much trauma in their short lives, including abuse, exploitation, gang violence, substance abuse, or mental illness. The bottom line is these kids deserve more and they need our help. By offering educational and emotional refuge, Excelsior empowers youth and families to escape their pasts and rebuild their lives so they can achieve lasting success. Excelsior celebrates their success and triumph at the Triumphant Faces Gala. By honoring a Triumphant Woman, we are recognizing someone in our community who has also made a difficult journey of overcoming adversity to achieve success. These are women who inspire us all and act as incredible role models for our youth and families at Excelsior.
