The launch of the USS Mike Henigan NX-317857, marks a significant moment in Starfleet history. As a Kirk-Class Heavy Cruiser, she embodies the spirit of exploration and discovery that defines our organization.

Based in Thorton, Colorado, Earth, Sol Sector, the USS Mike Henigan will undoubtedly encounter uncharted territories, alien species, and cosmic phenomena. Under the capable leadership of VADM Dustin Williams and with LCDR Jayden Dersch as the Executive Officer, the crew will forge their path among the stars. Her presence will contribute to the ongoing legacy of Starfleet.

And how fitting that the USS Mike Henigan’s mothership is the USS Blackstone, stationed in Region 12. Cooperation and collaboration between chapters are essential for our shared mission.

Greetings STARFLEET,

I am very pleased to share that the STARFLEET website is once again available at https://www.sfi.org. Not all subsections are active as of yet (the Member’s Hub is a major focus, of note - along with hosting of our Auxiliaries and chapter/region websites…) While there is still obvious work to be done, seeing our primary online presence available to members and the public once again is something, I think, worth celebrating.

As many of you know, the last several months have presented challenges unlike any we have faced in recent years. Throughout that time, the volunteer team of the Department of Digital Systems & Technology has worked tirelessly to restore services carefully and responsibly, always with an eye toward ensuring STARFLEET emerges from this process stronger than before. Their focus has never been to simply bring systems back online - it has been on bringing them back online the right way, with a future-focused eye.

As you explore the website, like I mentioned, you'll notice that some areas continue to evolve. Additional content and resources will continue to be reviewed, refreshed, and returned over time as this work progresses. Today's announcement is not the finish line, but it is an important step forward.

I want to personally thank Admiral Jayden Tyronian and every member of the DS&T team for the extraordinary dedication they have shown throughout this effort. The countless volunteer hours they have invested have gotten us to this point. They have my full confidence as they continue strengthening STARFLEET's digital infrastructure for the future. Finally, thank you to you, the membership, for your patience, encouragement, and understanding throughout this process. Your support has meant a great deal to the volunteers working to restore these services.

I’ve been personally seeing the work behind the scenes and, while it’s a bit over my head at times, the hours poured in are quite real. There is still more work ahead, but I just wanted to celebrate an important victory. I look forward to sharing more milestones with you as STARFLEET's online presence continues to return, grow, and improve.

It is my sad duty to report the passing of Admiral Jonanthan "Gumby" Simmons. Gumby was involved in R17 for many years and called the Region home. He served as Regional Coordinator for many years. Region 17 will enter a period of mourning and dimm our lights in honor of the fallen.

Evening Region 17 and friends.

I wanted to take a moment and thank the outgoing Region Administration for their awesome with over the last few years. Thank you Col Alice Nightbird for stepping up to be our Vice Regional Coordinator and helping the Region these last few years. Thank you Commodore Laure McFarland for not only stepping up to help the Region these last few years, but also being a great voice for all the membership during this past administration.

I am happy to step back into serving the Region as Regional Coordinator once again. I am also happy to announce that Laurie has agreed to stay on as Vice Regional Coordinator, thank you!

My first AB meeting and last for the Nottage/Case administration is just a few weeks away. I will of course pass along any information that might be relevant. Based on past experience. most of this meeting will be prepping for the Case/Sams administration coming into office.

I will keep you all up to date as things happen.

From the Inspector General STARFLEET -

The results of the 2022 CS Election have been announced by the incumbent Commander STARFLEET. Congratulations to David Nottage as the CS Elect and Ryan Case as the VCS Elect. I want to take this opportunity to thank the rest of the candidates for their participation and willingness to serve the fleet. Also the resolution voted on passed so we will be adding a new position to the Executive Committee.

I am enclosing in this message a copy of the election results which include how each off the candidates faired along with the percentage of voters and results of the resolution voted on.
Finally I will be putting together an after action review. If you as a member wish to provide me input on how we can do better in regards to the election, please send me an email at [email protected]. Deadline for submitting input to me for the after-action review is December 10, 2022.
