In 1977, we took a gamble on a small office in Tokyo. Today, Japan is a multi-billion dollar market. As we celebrate our 50th Anniversary, we are applying that same "boots on the ground" wisdom to the world’s next great economic powerhouses.
The global middle class is expanding at a record pace, particularly in Southeast Asia and Africa. USMEF is currently laying the groundwork in emerging markets like Vietnam, Malaysia, and West Africa. We aren't just selling meat; we are using 50 years of experience to build long-term brand loyalty in the world's fastest-growing economies. We are ensuring that as these consumers rise, U.S. beef, pork, and lamb are already at the top of their list.

USMEF was honored to meet with U.S. Ambassador to Japan George Glass, alongside the fantastic team at FAS Tokyo this week. A special thank you to Minister-Counselor for Agricultural Affairs Jeanne Bailey and Agricultural Trade Office (ATO) Director Ryan Bedford for including USMEF in these critical discussions.
Our conversation centered on some incredible milestones ahead, including planning activities for the USA 250th Anniversary and celebrating the upcoming USMEF 50th Anniversary in Japan in 2027!
USMEF deeply values the strong, collaborative partnership we have shared with FAS Tokyo over the past five decades, and we look forward to working together to drive the industry forward for the next 50 years.
