A Special Message from Rene- Jan 15th, 2019
Thank you for being a part of Cocktails for a Cause, which is closed as of 12.31.18.
I am so proud of us! This is what we’ve done: donated 559,842 items worth $473,435 through thirty local nonprofits to the people they serve over nine years. Who did this? You did! All of you who came and worked as volunteers, told your friends, attended, sponsored, bought auction items and brought bag loads of stuff to all of our events over the years. Whew! The number of items we collected at our events could fill Mile-High Stadium seven times! That’s what I call an impact.
You made a difference. A huge one.
It has been such a surprising, exhilarating and gratifying journey for me, and, like most journeys, this one has come to an end.
I didn’t know I was creating a nonprofit organization when I threw that cocktail party in 2009, but that’s what I did. I stepped out on that path in faith and you joined me, and that has made all the difference.
I couldn’t have done it without you.
It wouldn’t have happened without you.
Our success was entirely because of you and your commitment to Cocktails for a Cause over the years. Thank you so much for being a part of our family!
The whole we created is so much greater than the sum of all of our parts.
My journey along this path, as the president and founder, has been a dream come true for me. I thank you so much for helping me to realize this dream and for coming along with me to do this wonderful work. I truly believe Cocktails for a Cause has a lived a fabulous life, that it has fulfilled its mission and that now, it is complete. I am closing Cocktails for a Cause as of December 31, 2018.
All future events are cancelled.
We are going out on a very high note! I am so happy that our last event, in honor of Rocky Mountain Diaper Depot, was so successful with nearly 32,000 items donated (including over 25,000 diapers!) valued at over $12,000. Ironically, I started this journey with a carload of diapers and I’m ending it with truck full of them! Somehow, the universe has a way of bracketing this story with diapers.
You are amazing and I’m so grateful for each and every one of you! I hope you continue to learn about all the great local nonprofits that serve those in need in our community and help them in whatever way makes sense to you. You made a difference these past nine years of coming to events and it’s my greatest hope and prayer that you continue to make a difference. I know you can and you will.
Please know that the decision to close Cocktails for a Cause comes after much reflection, consideration, conversation and heartfelt prayer. I am confident that it is the right one and I ask that you support it, and me. Thank you.
As for me, this is in no way good-bye! I’m on to my next chapter, as a wife, a new puppy mama, a Realtor and a businesswoman, but mostly, and always, as your very grateful friend.
