🐕 Pet of the Month

June’s Pets of the Month are BFFs (Best Furry Friends) Ta**us and Tizzy, who live on Raritan Street! This vocal pair of Shepskies love mischief and are often caught red-pawed digging up their Mom’s garden or trying to escape-artist their way out of a fence or leash.

When they’re on their best behavior, however, Ta**us and Tizzy  love strolling through Sunnyside streets and are often rewarded with their favorite treat, a pupsicle from local Sunnyside Fav, Lily’s Baths and Biscuits on Tejon.

Our Annual Meeting was packed with neighbors, ideas, and some big updates about what’s coming next. Here’s what you need to know:

➡ New ways to get involved with SUNI (Board Fellows + Block Captains)
➡ Improvements coming to 38th Ave
➡ La Raza Park reopening May 1
➡ Housing updates and long-term planning
➡ A drought that’s more serious than usual 💧
➡ And one surprisingly simple way to help the city? Shop local - it matters more than you think.

This neighborhood doesn’t just happen, we build it together.

🌨️ Denver’s gearing up for a spring snowstorm tonight… and it’s the heavy, wet kind.

You know—the kind that turns trees into reluctant yoga instructors!
🌳 Protect your trees:
• Only clear snow from small, young trees (under 5 years)
• Use a broom—bristles only (no whacking… this isn’t Whac-A-Mole)
• Gently shake branches if safe
• Keep checking—snow can keep falling within the tree after the storm

⚠️ Downed branches happen—be ready:
• You’re responsible for cleanup on your property + nearby right of way
• If a branch is blocking a street, the city will clear it—but may bill you
• If it’s safe, clear sidewalks + avoid parking under trees (tempting fate is a bold strategy)

♻️ Branch disposal rules (aka don’t just yeet them):
• Max 4” diameter, cut to 4 ft lengths
• Compost bin if it fits
• Bundle (≤50 lbs) for Large Item Pickup (up to 10 bundles)
• Or drop off at Cherry Creek Recycling (7400 Cherry Creek S Dr)

👉 Bottom line: Stay safe, stay warm, and maybe park not under that giant old tree tonight 🌳
