Lauren’s questions started when Weston’s personality and eating habits changed. Then her son suddenly lost weight.

Lauren brought Weston to the Kaiser Permanente Rock Creek Medical Offices to see Tamara Kusek, MD. Dr. Kusek was able to get Weston downstairs for blood work and an ultrasound.

Through the Kaiser Permanente mobile app, Lauren got answers fast.

“It was so seamless and so easy,” she said. “It meant so much to me to be able to do all of that in the same building, in the same appointment.”

Years ago, Craig Haffeman was shoveling snow when he felt a slight burning in his chest. He called his care team, which led to a life-saving discovery and an appreciation for nurses he’s still trying to express.

Testing showed Craig needed a five-artery bypass surgery. He said nurses really showed up for him before, during, and after the procedure.

"You know who's always there? The nurses. They're always there to comfort you and tell you it's going to be okay."

So Craig recently reached out to show up for them.

He personally delivered a mini orchid, a thank you note, and a charm to every nurse on staff at our Wheat Ridge Medical Offices. He made sure to tell each nurse, “You make a difference.”

"When a patient takes the time to honor all of us in such a special way, it warms our hearts and enhances our spirits," said Denise Johler, RN.

One patient said her cancer diagnosis felt like her world turned upside down. But then she met Kimberly, a nurse at Kaiser Permanente’s Franklin Medical Offices.

“Kimberly was there for me, not only as a nurse but as an advocate for my health, both mental and physical.”

Kimberly's compassionate care earned her the well-deserved recognition of a DAISY Foundation Award.

She said the most meaningful part of nursing is the connection with patients. “They truly fill my bucket and make what I do incredibly meaningful.”

When she’s not caring for patients, Kimberly enjoys staying active, spending time with family, and cheering on her kids at hockey games.
