👻 Meet the Spirits of Victorian Horrors 👻

Portraying Sarah Orne Jewett this year at Victorian Horrors is Julia Elstun Payne, performing Jewett’s haunting tale "Lady Ferry".

Julia has performed in and coordinated the talent for Victorian Horrors since its first season over thirty years ago. She served for three years as Artistic Director for Christian Youth Theatre, worked on staff in the Education Department at the Arvada Center for six years, and has taught theatre, directed, and performed throughout the Metro area. You may also have seen her in commercials and industrial videos. Julia also works locally as an audio describer.

Taxidermy captured the public's imagination during the Browns' time, popularized by World's Fairs showcasing wonders from around the globe. Inspired by this craze, the Brown family adorned their Dining Room with mounted deer heads and displayed a polar bear rug in their Drawing Room.
