Grandparents4Kids supports school choice for parents, students, and teachers! We had a great visit at Southside Classical Academy last week and learned about their hybrid approach to education. The students appeared happy, excited, and engaged, as did the staff. The school hopes to grow next year. If you are interested in a unique school that combines in class learning and home school curricula infused with Christian teaching, consider attending their Student Showcase this Thursday!

Grandparents should recall Ronald Reagan's famous campaign debate line: “I want you to know that also I will not make age an issue of this campaign. I am not going to exploit, for political purposes, my opponent's youth and inexperience."

The point being, you might be better off believing Lori and grandparents over youthful, activist ideologues.

Last Thursday, 4/30/26, a strong coalition of engaged Coloradans secured a MAJOR VICTORY for religious freedom, parental rights, and educational choice in Colorado. HB26-1292 was killed after mounting public pressure from parents, faith leaders, schools, advocates, and concerned citizens across our state who refused to stay silent.

This bill was an attempt to use government power to pressure faith-based schools to abandon the very Biblical principles and religious convictions upon which they were founded and comply with state gender-identity mandates.

But I want to be very clear: this fight is far from over.

During committee discussion, the bill supporters made their intentions unmistakable. They openly discussed placing “guard rails” on faith-based schools and scholarship granting organizations and signaled future efforts to force religious schools to comply with Colorado’s gender-identity mandates (i.e., boys in girls' sports & private spaces) in exchange for participation in the federal tax credit scholarship program.

As a mother, this issue is deeply personal to me. My husband and I made the difficult decision to remove our daughter from public school after watching her struggle in an environment that was no longer supporting her emotional well-being or academic growth. We sacrificed financially to place her in a private Christian school where she could thrive in an environment aligned with our family’s values and her individual needs.

Like many Colorado families, we continued paying into a public education system we no longer used while also taking on the burden of private school tuition. That is why the Federal Tax Credit Scholarship Program matters. It creates opportunities for families who otherwise could never afford another educational option for their child.

We must recognize something bigger is happening politically. Many of these policies do not reflect the values of everyday Democrats, Independents, or Republicans who believe in civil liberties and constitutional protections. Increasingly, we are seeing the influence of radical ideological movements that view parental authority, religious liberty, and constitutional limitations on government power as obstacles to be dismantled rather than rights to be protected.

Colorado families must stay engaged. If we do not stand firmly now, the next version of this legislation may come back stronger, more strategic, and more aggressive toward faith-based education and parental rights.

Let's get out the word on these three, important ballot initiatives so many worked so hard to put to voters! This November, thanks to that work, we can push back on a Colorado legislature intent on eroding our rights and endangering our children and grandchildren at every turn.

Call to Action from Colorado Parent Advocacy Network below! Let's stand up against Colorado's attempt to punish people of faith. Whether or not you are a believer, our country was founded upon individual rights, including freedom of religion, and this is a direct attack on that unalienable right.

🚨 PARENTS & PEOPLE OF FAITH: WE NEED YOU THURSDAY 🚨

Please sign up to TESTIFY AGAINST HB26-1292 before the House Education Committee on Thursday, April 30.

This bill is a direct assault on religious liberty, parental rights, and school choice in Colorado.

HB26-1292 would force faith-based schools participating in scholarship granting organizations (SGOs) to comply with Colorado’s gender identity and sexual orientation mandates, including policies impacting admissions, student conduct, participation in sports, and school culture, even when those mandates directly conflict with the school’s sincerely held religious beliefs.

This is government coercion into the sacred right of parents to direct the education and moral upbringing of their children.

IMPORTANT INSTRUCTIONS:
• Search for: HB26-1292
• Scroll down and select the bill
• Choose “Against” in the position dropdown
• Select whether you are representing yourself or an organization

You may testify:
• In person
• Remotely via Zoom
or via written testimony

⚠️ IMPORTANT: The hearing begins at 1:30 PM, but committee hearings often run long and bill sponsors may stall testimony to wear people down. Remote testimony through Zoom may be the best option for many parents.

After you register, PLEASE send me a screenshot of your confirmation so I can submit your name to our Representatives.

We cannot stay silent while the state attempts to force families and faith-based schools to abandon their beliefs in exchange for educational opportunity.

Please share this with other parents, pastors, grandparents, and people of faith across Colorado.
