There are still a few seats left for the Jeffco Kids First gala, featuring Harmeet Dhillon, U.S. assistant attorney general for the Civil Rights Division. Harmeet will share some stories from the past year and a half she has spent combatting schools favoring one class of students over another, with little to no coherent justification. Please consider joining Lyndsay, Harmeet, and many others fighting to protect kids, parents, and safe, effective, and accountable public schools. It promises to be informative and fun, and supports a worthy cause.

This Thursday is the Jeffco Kids First Gala!

Jeffco Kids First has led the fight against boys competing in girls' sports, harmful gender policies, political activism in our schools, and a school district that continues to put ideology ahead of students. They have also exposed district failures, demanded accountability, and brought attention to teacher sexual misconduct and abuse and exposed the district's covering up cases like these and others that directly put our student's safety in jeopardy.

Now Jeffco Public Schools wants taxpayers to provide even more funding while spending public dollars defending policies challenged by the U.S. Department of Justice.

Lindsay Datko and the Jeffco Kids First team have worked tirelessly to protect students, defend parents' rights, and hold the district accountable.

An exciting development in Elizabeth!

Today, I am thrilled to announce a major new partnership in the legal battle to defend the Elizabeth School District and local control of our public schools.

The Heritage Foundation and Alliance Defending Freedom are teaming up to help defend the Elizabeth School Board against the ACLU’s lawsuit. This partnership will provide critical institutional support as the district continues its fight.

This is a major development—not only for Elizabeth, but for parents and school districts across America.

At the heart of this case is a fundamental question: Who gets to decide which books belong in our children’s school libraries?

Should those decisions be made locally by parents, teachers, administrators, and elected school board members working together through a transparent public process?

Or can the ACLU use the courts to force school districts to provide books that local communities determine are wildly age-inappropriate and irrelevant to legitimate educational purposes?

The Elizabeth School Board established a public process for reviewing library materials and determining whether they are appropriate for students. The ACLU responded by filing a federal lawsuit after the district faithfully applied that protocol and removed inappropriate books. The district has been forced to devote substantial time and resources to defending its authority to make educational decisions for the children entrusted to its care.

Now, two of America’s leading conservative organizations are joining that fight because THIS CASE IS THAT IMPORTANT.

The Heritage Foundation has spent decades defending conservative principles, limited government, and the rights of families. Alliance Defending Freedom is one of the nation’s premier constitutional law organizations, with an extraordinary record of defending religious liberty, parental rights, free speech, and local decision-making.

Their involvement sends a powerful message: Elizabeth does not stand alone.

The outcome of this case could affect public schools far beyond our community. If outside political organizations can override the lawful, transparent decisions of parents and locally elected school boards, every school district in America could face the same threat.
