For 77 years, LAEF’s work has come down to one simple truth: talent is everywhere, but information isn’t.

Every year we meet brilliant students who didn’t apply to college. It wasn’t that they weren’t capable. No one told them how: which forms, which deadlines, which doors were even open to them.

This year the world marked International Day for Universal Access to Information. For us, it’s a reminder of what guides our mission every day of the year: opening a pathway means nothing if a student doesn’t know it exists, or doesn’t have someone beside them to walk it.

So our work never stops at the scholarship check. It’s application workshops. It’s connecting students to our university partners before senior year ends. It’s alumni mentors who’ve sat in that same confusion and can say, “aquí está el camino.” Since 1949, access to opportunity has started with access to information. For Latino students in Colorado, LAEF makes sure they get both.

Sigue adelante. Estamos contigo, cada paso del camino.

Sometimes, the impact of one teacher becomes a ripple that reaches the next generation. 🍎💛

When Gaspar Marquin Mendoza came to the United States from Guatemala as a teenager, he was learning a new language and navigating school with a disability. Along the way, a special education teacher saw his potential and made an impact he never forgot.

Now, as an LAEF scholar, he's going to college to become a special education teacher himself.

This , we celebrate the educators who see possibility in their students before they can always see it themselves. And the students who carry that belief forward.

One teacher believed in him. Someday, he'll be that teacher for someone else.

When you invest in scholars like Gaspar, the belief keeps going. It goes into classrooms, into our neighborhoods, and to the students he'll teach one day. Help LAEF turn more sueños into careers that give back to our community.

Founded in 1949, LAEF has carried one belief across three generations: Latino students deserve every pathway to success, backed by a community willing to invest in them for the long term.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re reflecting on what that legacy has built: more than 7,000 scholarships and more than 8 million dollars awarded since our founding.

At our recent gala, a mariachi closed the evening with Las Mañanitas — a fitting note for an organization turning 77 this year. The song was a celebration. The real story is what 77 years of staying rooted has made possible.

Con ganas. Con orgullo. Juntos.

When we remove the cost of college, everything changes. 🎓

A new economic impact study confirms it: Denver's investment in students like ours is projected to generate $1.25B in additional lifetime earnings — a 716% return. For 75+ years, LAEF has believed cost should never stand between a student and their degree. Proud to be part of this story with Prosperity Denver Fund

Con ganas, together we're building Denver's future.

International Day of Peace hits different when you're a first-generation scholar sitting in a lecture hall that feels a world away from home.

Peace isn't only the absence of conflict — it's the quiet moment you give yourself to breathe between classes. It's calling home just to hear a familiar voice. It's finding the one classmate, professor, or program that makes a huge campus feel a little more like familia.

To every scholar navigating a new city, a new language of syllabi and office hours, a new version of yourself — tu paz importa. Your peace matters as much as your persistence.

You don't have to have it all figured out today. Ask for help. Rest when you need to. Find your people. That's not falling behind — that's building the foundation you'll stand on for the next four years and beyond.

Estamos contigo. Siempre.

For many of our familias, love is loud through sacrifice, showing up and everything our parents do for us, even when the words are quieter.

So we asked them: What inspires you about your child?

Because hearing them say it out loud inspires us in a way only we understand. 🥹💛

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate the love that carries us forward.

Today we have a little advice from someone who’s been where you are. 🎓

We asked LAEF alumnus and University of Colorado Boulder graduate Marco Dorado to share his advice with this year’s scholars.

Marco knows what it means to navigate higher education while facing barriers that can make the path forward feel uncertain. Today, he’s helping lead work that strengthens Colorado’s nonprofit sector and advances policy change across our state with Communities Lead Communities Thrive.

His journey is a reminder of what can happen when talent meets opportunity, community and ganas.

To our scholars: take it from someone who’s been where you are. 💛
