We get lots of questions about runoff, and how Sloan’s Lake has filled in over the last 150 years…and here it is. This is just one of the 25 open storm drain and ditches that run into Sloan’s Lake - when it rains or snows, it’s easier to see the sediment running directly into the lake - like this flow yesterday. The darker water is the runoff and full of sediment. All the sediment is brought in and settles to the bottom, reducing the depth of the lake.

This is why we work so hard to get this lake fixed and stop the sediment from causing more problems.
