10 years ago on August 12th - Gavin Class took his last breathe in his first life, but took his first breathe in his new life... and that is when YOLT was born.

Happy Thursday! This special Thursday we are throwing it back and looking forward! Back in 2015, our very own Gavin Class had the opportunity to speak at the Korey Stringer Institute at the University of Connecticut. Now, Gavin has been asked by the Matthew Mangine Jr. Foundation to speak at their fundraiser on October 17! They have partnered with our partners, the Korey Stringer Institute before, and just like YOLT, they strive to educate athletes and coaches about heatstroke, as well as prevent sudden deaths. BIG NEWS!
We have recently partnered with the University of Maryland Medical Center and Dr. Daniel Maluf to help them start their Artificial Intelligence Program. This technology aims to help get transplant recipients released sooner and be closely monitored in the comfort of their home surrounded by their loved ones. This will help to decrease clinical visits, infections, and readmissions. We hope that one day this program will be used for all transplant recipients across the country.

It's everyone! Today we are throwing it all the way back to 2018.
Through a partnership with Donate Life Maryland we created the Class Strength Scholarship and in 2018 we were able to send our first scholarship recipient to the Transplant Games of America.
Meet Maddy! Maddy was just 4 yo when she received a heart transplant and just 5 years later was she able to compete at the games. We were able to send Maddy along with her mom and two siblings. Maddy brought home medals in 4 events!

All too often we look at our lives as a destination. Once I get this job, buy this house, meet my wife/husband then I’ll will be happy. Our life is a journey, taking the long way home, not taking shortcuts while still enjoying the view.

Stop letting your Monday's control you. Set the tone. We decided to choose to light up our Monday with . What are you going to decide to do? Today we will be highlighting our very own Gavin Class, co-founder of YOLT and the reason behind the organization. Gavin went from suffering from exertional heat stroke in 2013 to needing a liver transplant that same year. After receiving the transplant and not only resuming life but also improving his life, Gavin gained a newfound perspective. He realized he really could live twice. We hope that Gavin's story serves as motivation to live today and every day to the fullest, like today is your second chance at life! Happy 💪!

We have big news! YOLT has been blessed with donations to start The Lodging Fund at the University of Maryland Medical Center! We were able to put $15,000 to launch the fund. This fund gives vulnerable and low-income patients and their families funds for lodging as they go through the organ transplant process. Only 4% of medical centers in the US have transplant programs and so few have transplant houses. Help us change that and provide housing funds for transplant patients and families!
