Happy Anniversary to The Healing Home Retreat 🌿

Five years ago, Gabriela Mayorga and I opened our hearts and hosted our very first Healing Home Retreat. We didn’t know exactly what it would look like—we simply followed where love and faith led us.

Since that moment, 37 incredible mothers have walked through the doors of this sacred space, each beginning a new chapter of healing and hope. The connections made, the bonds formed, and the growth we’ve witnessed are truly priceless.

We are deeply grateful to Mariann, whose love and generosity made our very first retreat possible. Her sponsorship planted the seed that has continued to bloom into something so meaningful.

As we celebrate five years of transformation and community, our hearts are full of anticipation for what’s to come—especially our November retreat. Here’s to continued healing, connection, and the beautiful journey ahead. 💜 i couldnt do this journey without Gabriela, our children brought is together.

I know the pain, the darkness, and the desperate need to feel life again. After the death of my daughter, I didn’t know what life meant anymore. I’ve walked through the depths of hell on this journey. But over time, I’ve also grown and found ways to serve others who are hurting.

Please remember, you are not alone. It’s okay to reach out. Find your people, or know that I am always here for you. I love you and “I’ll See You Tomorrow”

The loss of a child hits different. Tonight I find myself reminiscing about her short but precious life here on earth. Tomorrow my sweet Brianna would be 28, but I only got 12 beautiful years with her. Those years will always be etched in my heart. I love you, my girl, and I carry you with me always.

**FIFTEEN Years Ago Today…

Fifteen years ago today, my family’s life was disrupted and forever changed. Our sweet Brianna was in the ICU at Children’s Hospital, fighting for her life after playing something called The Choking Game—OR she unintentionally took her life.

This week brings with it a flood of memories—some beautiful, some deeply painful. Grief is like that. It doesn’t follow a timeline. It’s not something to "get over." And please—don’t ever say, “She’s in a better place,” or “Just stay busy.” Those words don’t help when your heart is breaking.

We have to move *through* grief, not around it. And sometimes we take steps backward—and that’s okay too. This journey doesn’t come with a map, but I’ve learned that it’s ours to navigate.

I’ve known darkness so deep it felt like hell, and I’ve known moments of peace and light that reminded me I’m still here. Still growing. Still becoming.

Today, I’m in a safe space. I’m surrounded by love—a special person, a job that gives me purpose, and friends and family who hold me up. This week, I’m giving myself permission to feel it all. I’ve kept my work light, and I’ve planned time with the people who ground me.

Grief and growth can coexist. And I choose to honor Brianna not only by remembering her, but by living.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month—an important reminder that the simplest acts of connection can make the biggest difference.

In a world where notifications never stop, a quick, genuine response can be the lifeline someone needs. Let’s stay connected on a personal level this month—and every month—because you never know whose life you might change just by replying.

Break the Cycle—Choose Real Connection Over Scrolls

We all feel it: social media has become a double-edged sword. With the whole world at our fingertips, we’re more “connected” than ever … yet real connection too often gets sidelined.

If someone takes the time to text you, text them back—right then, not hours later while you keep scrolling. When we delay a simple reply even though we’re visibly “online,” the message we send is, “You don’t matter as much as this feed.” That small pause chips away at trust and invites loneliness.

Let’s change that:

Pause the Scroll. Each time a friend reaches out, set the phone down for the feed and pick it up for the person.

Answer Promptly. A quick “Got your message—will reply in a bit!” keeps hearts connected, even on busy days.

Schedule Screen-Free Moments. Protect spaces where conversation, eye contact, and laughter live—no apps required.

Model the Change. When you put people first, others notice and feel invited to do the same.

Social media isn’t the enemy; indifference is. Let’s reclaim our mental health and our relationships—one genuine response at a time.

A Story of Strength, Advocacy, and Love

Five years ago, I was given the opportunity to share a story close to my heart on a local TV show—our story, a journey filled with heartbreak, struggles, and resilience. It’s a story that I carry with me every day, and one I’m truly blessed to be able to voice.

Since that moment, I have made it my mission to be an advocate for mental health, to break the silence, and to continue the conversation. I promise to always be as transparent as I can about my own struggles, while also celebrating my wins, no matter how small they might seem. Each victory reminds me of how far we’ve come, and how much strength we hold within us.

One of the greatest blessings in my life is witnessing my daughter, Kayla. I am in awe of her strength, her unwavering resilience, and the amazing woman and mother she has become. She inspires me every day and reminds me of the power of love, growth, and perseverance.

Our journey may have been filled with challenges, but it has also been filled with profound moments of healing, and I will continue to share that message with others. Together, we grow stronger. Thank you for supporting us as we continue to advocate, share, and heal.
