Noches de Hecho - Part 3:
El Grito de Westwood – Reclaiming Nuestra Voz

Join us for a night of healing, truth-telling, and comunidad.

We’ll be coming together to begin covering the Cesar Chavez mural at Kahlo’s, making space for our community to reflect, respond, and reimagine what comes next.

Through an open mic, we’re holding space for voices that are too often silenced by injustice, abuse of power, fear, and politics.

Bring your heart, a poem, a reflection—or come simply to listen and be in comunidad.

📣Noches de Hecho – Part 2: Preparando Westwood para Cinco is this Wednesday, March 18th!

Stop by anytime from 5–8pm for an evening of comunidad as we prepare for our upcoming Cinco de Mayo en Westwood community celebration. Enjoy food and music, and learn more on how to be involved in this year’s event.

✨ What’s happening:

• Help us canvass the neighborhood, distributing last month’s whistle kits and our Cinco community notification flyer

• Learn how to become a vendor, artist, or volunteer at Cinco

• Share what Westwood means to you, a community art piece that will be on display at this year’s celebration

• Enjoy a presentation by Hecho en Westwood Youth Danza Mexika program at 6:15pm

La Reyna del Sur will be popped up selling Tacos al Pastor and inside Cultura Chocolate, Mari of Raíces del Corazon will have ensalada de pollo, calabacitas, arroz, frijoles, and tostadas.

Thank you everyone who joined us at last month’s Noches de Hecho event! Together we created over 200 KYR/Whistle Kits and helped raise money for our community partner . Thank you also to the amazing photographers who helped capture the event and the community so beautifully. Their photos have now been uploaded onto our Noches de Hecho webpage (link in bio).

Join us next week for our next Noches de Hecho on March 18th, where we are kicking off the countdown to our 6th Annual at just 45 days away. This month’s celebration is all about connecting with our neighbors and sharing information about Cinco. Every half hour, small groups will head out door-to-door to pass out the KYR/Whistle kits we created last month as well as information about the Cinco de Mayo en Westwood community celebration to our neighbors.

While the canvassing is taking place, back at there will be music, food, and information stations where people can learn how to get more involved with Cinco de Mayo as vendors, artists, or volunteers. We’ll also be working on a community art piece that will be displayed at Cinco, inviting people to share what Westwood means to them, and at 6:15pm will share a short danza with us.

Come be in comunidad with us, meet our neighbors, and learn how you can be a part of this year’s Cinco celebration.

Register today for our FREE Activism Through Printmaking Classes happening

MONDAYS from 4:30pm-6:30pm starting March 16th
Open to Youth Ages 13-18

Youth will explore screen printing as a tool for creative expression and cultural storytelling. Participants will create original art, prints, posters, and merchandise that reflect their voices and experiences and that will be on display and for sale at our 6th annual community celebration.

Open to Youth Ages 12-18

Youth learn ancestral food traditions rooted in the cultural practices of our community. Participants will work with traditional ingredients such as maíz, beans, and chiles while learning techniques like nixtamalization, preparing masa, making tamales, and cooking traditional dishes passed down through generations.

This program offers BIPOC youth and their families a meaningful opportunity to connect with and preserve their ancestral and cultural roots. Classes focus on steo-by-step Danza ensayos while introducing basic teachings of Mexika philosophy and traditions in a fun, engaging and welcoming environment.

Noches de Hecho
Pt. 1: Por el Amor de Nuestra Comunidad ❤️

Join us tomorrow for our first Noches de Hecho community gathering in collaboration with Movimiento Poder.

We’ll be assembling Know Your Rights packets and whistle kits, sharing resources, and spending time together in comunidad.

We will be screen printing custom community designs so bring your own tee/merch or print on limited items available for sale. Get your photo taken with amazing local photographers enjoy musica by DJ , and food and drinks at .

Screen printing and photos are free with any donations going to support and the important work they are doing in our community.

Hecho en Westwood is launching a new monthly event series focused on bringing our community together through collective action and care.

Join us for our first night of the series with an evening rooted in love, solidarity and connection. In partnership with , we’ll be assembling Know Your Rights packets + whistle kits, screen printing community designs (bring your own garment), taking photos with incredible local photographers, and gathering around música y comida.

Come learn more about what Hecho en Westwood and Movimiento Poder have planned for 2026 and how you can get more involved within the community.

Screen printing and photos are free thanks to the support of our amazing photographers and partners. Donations offered during the event will go directly to support Movimiento Poder and the important work they’re doing.

Join us for the LAST DAY of Las Posadas de Westwood today at from 11am-4pm!

We are excited to welcome Danza San Luis Rey for their presentation at 1pm today!

We will have cookie and ornament decorating again and 2 piñatas!

We are also supporting toy drive and anyone who drops off a toy at the bar will get half of any drink of their choice!
