Sometimes the most meaningful partnerships don't begin around a conference table.
They begin around a cutting board.

Over the past several weeks, we've had the privilege of welcoming community leaders into our kitchen, not simply to tour our program, but to experience it. To learn alongside our students. To prepare a meal together. To build relationships.

We were honored to welcome Mayor Mike Johnston into our kitchen and are grateful for the City and County of Denver's growing commitment to creating opportunities that help people build lasting self-sufficiency.

As TeamHWH continues to grow, we're looking for employers, community partners, volunteers and advocates who want to help create more pathways to employment and lasting self-sufficiency.

Team HWH celebrates Chantel and the determination that brought her to this milestone as she earned her Culinary Quick Start Certificate.

Every graduation is deeply personal, yet never accomplished alone.

Behind every certificate is an entire team. Instructors who share their knowledge. Mentors who offer encouragement. Classmates who celebrate every victory. Employers who open doors. Supporters who believe every person deserves the opportunity to become Housed. Working. Healthy.

This Independence Day, we're reminded that the promise of opportunity has always been at the heart of America's story.

Every day at Housed, Working & Healthy, we have the privilege of supporting people who are choosing to build new skills, discover renewed confidence, find meaningful work, and create lasting self-sufficiency.

Creating opportunity takes a team. This week, that team got a little bigger.

When Mayor Mike Johnston visited Housed, Working & Healthy, our goal wasn't simply to give him a tour.

We wanted him to experience what Team HWH has always been: a community where people believe in one another, celebrate one another, and work together to create lasting self-sufficiency.

That meant spending time with our students, hearing their stories, meeting the staff and Board who walk alongside them every day, and stepping into the kitchen where careers and confidence are built side by side.

It also meant putting on a TEAM HWH apron.

Before long, the Mayor was making pico de gallo with our culinary students, laughing alongside instructors, asking questions, and doing what we hope every visitor does: taking the time to know the people behind our mission.

The visit concluded with one of Team HWH's most meaningful daily traditions: Closing Circle.

During Closing Circle, students celebrate one another's progress, recognize milestones, and remind each other that every step forward is worth celebrating.

As students were recognized, the room filled with applause. Classmates cheered. Staff celebrated. Board members joined in. The Mayor applauded every accomplishment with the same enthusiasm as everyone else in the room.

Some recognitions celebrated major milestones. Others honored the quiet victories that often go unseen: the courage to keep showing up, the discipline to keep moving forward, and the commitment to believe that a different future is possible.

Those moments remind us that success at Team HWH isn't measured solely by graduation or employment. It's measured by the confidence that grows, the resilience that's strengthened, and the sense of belonging that reminds every student they are never walking the journey alone.

We are grateful to the Denver Mayor's Office, Mayor Mike Johnston, Adeeb Khan, and the City and County of Denver for taking the time to experience Team HWH firsthand. We are equally grateful to our students, staff, Board of Directors, culinary team, volunteers, and community partners who make moments like this possible every single day.

Soon, we'll open the doors to our new state-of-the-art culinary training facility and welcome our community for our Grand Opening and Community Impact Showcase.

We can't wait to share what's next because together, we're building lasting self-sufficiency.

The people are real. Their stories are real. People who came in with nothing and left with housing, jobs, vehicles, pets, custody of their kids — and the belief that their future belongs to them.

The only requirement? Show up and commit. The team does the rest.
These stories exist because people chose to show up — for themselves, and for each other. That's the team.

Every success story starts with someone willing to believe change is possible.
But lasting transformation doesn't happen alone.

It takes support. Accountability. Opportunity. Encouragement. And a community of people willing to walk alongside someone as they build a new future.

This is Team HWH.

A community where support and accountability work hand in hand.
A place where people are encouraged to take ownership of their future while knowing they do not have to walk the journey alone.

The story featured in this video is a powerful example.

After experiencing domestic abuse, homelessness, and addiction, this student faced challenges that could have easily defined her future. Instead, with determination, support from her peer coach, and a community that continued to welcome and encourage her, she kept moving forward.

Today, she is employed, living in a sober living environment, and building a new chapter for her life.

This is more than a success story.
It is a reminder of what becomes possible when people are surrounded by a team that believes in them.

At Team HWH, everyone has a role.
Students. Staff. Peer coaches. Volunteers. Employers. Donors. Community partners.
Everyone contributes.
Every success is shared.

We love seeing moments like this!
Housed Working and Healthy was featured on 9NEWS (KUSA) in Kyle Clark Word of Thanks segment, highlighting the powerful impact this work is having right here in our community.

Coming on the heels of an incredible week for HWH, this recognition makes the moment even more meaningful.

The need is real-HWH currently has more than 10x the demand for its program than it has capacity to serve. Through stable housing, culinary training, and support systems, they are helping individuals rebuild their lives and create lasting change.

With a new facility opening soon in the Swansea neighborhood, this impact is only going to grow.
