Team CAPU is coming in strong at Asian & Pacific Islander Americans in Historic Preservation this week! We’re so excited to co-host this national convening, and share with Asian & Pacific Islander historical preservationists across the country the amazing things we got going on here. Here are just some of CAPU’s team, board, and volunteers that are presenting this week.

We are also so grateful that we were able to help some of our amazing community partners put together panels to share their work. It’s not everyday that national Asian Pacific Islander convenings happen in Colorado, but though our numbers may be lower, our impact is clear.

A look back at last weekend’s Designing Denver’s Chinatown: Community Vision Workshop. We had an incredible time hearing your ideas for what to see, do, and feel in a future reactivated Chinatown alley. Most importantly, we loved meeting so many people who care about amplifying this history and building a diverse downtown Denver.

This was an opportunity to show stakeholders, partners, and potential founders there is an appetite for this project. And if you missed the workshop but want to show your support, you can still let us know what your vision for a reactivated Chinatown alley. Modern or traditional? Night markets or family programs? Fill out the Community Input Survey at the 🔗 in our bio or tinyurl.com/DenverChinatownSurvey

Survey open until August 31! And stay tuned for a report of findings from the workshop and survey coming soon. Remember the proverb, “be not afraid of going slow, but of not going at all.” We are excited to keep moving forward this vision together with you.

We spent the last three years listening to community, here is what we heard. We’re excited to release Anchoring Denver’s Little Saigon Community Preservation Study that includes robust findings and recommendations on how to preserve Little Saigon against anti-displacement pressures. Thank you to everyone who made this labor of love possible. Please take the time to read and share the study!
