The residents of Welton Park Apartments located in Denver, CO have been WITHOUT WATER for SIX CONSECUTIVE DAYS! This is inhumane and we demand better for these residents, many of whom are low-income. Residents have been FORCED to use portable restrooms, showers, and limited access to a garden hose from a neighboring building. We need community to help us buy water for each of the 195 units in this building and join us for a community press conference on Sunday, March 10th, 2024 at 2300 Welton St. Denver, CO 80205 at 1:00 PM.

πŸ“£ Did you know that breast cancer can affect anyone, regardless of gender? It's important to raise awareness about this, so let's break the silence and start a conversation about black men and breast cancer. πŸ’ͺ🏾

πŸŽ—οΈ Breast cancer in men is rare, but it can happen. Black men, in particular, may face unique challenges when it comes to healthcare access and awareness. By sharing this post, we can help debunk misconceptions and encourage early detection for everyone.

πŸ”¬ Many symptoms of breast cancer are similar in both men and women, including lumps, ni**le changes, and skin dimpling. It's crucial for black men to be aware of these signs and to consult with a healthcare professional if they notice any changes.

πŸ’™ Let's stand together and support our black brothers, fathers, sons, and friends by sharing this information. By spreading awareness, we can help save lives and ensure that everyone receives the care they need.

πŸ“£ Exciting Announcement! πŸŽ‰

We are thrilled to introduce our new Fundraising Committee Chair and welcome Deanyale T. Dixon-Scott to the Executive Board of Directors of the Urban League of Metropolitan Denver! πŸŒ†

Deanyale is a true Colorado native, born and raised in Denver to proud parents Edward Cooper and Perry Davis. She was brought up with strong southern traditions by her loving grandparents, who resided in South Aurora, Colorado, and Baldwin Hills, CA. πŸŒ„

During her time at Redondo Beach Union High School, Deanyale embarked on a nursing program that allowed her to graduate with two years of nursing education. She also served as a mentor for at-risk teens through the IMPACT Program in partnership with Los Angeles County. These experiences ignited her passion for making positive changes in underserved communities and supporting at-risk youth. 🌟

Deanyale pursued higher education at Charles Drew Medicine and Science in Los Angeles, California, where she completed her internships at the prestigious Martin Luther King Hospital. Her professional journey led her to become a dedicated Social Worker for Los Angeles County, where she served for an impressive 16 years. Later on, she transitioned to Kaiser Permanente, taking charge of operational, regulatory, and compliance matters across the Denver and Boulder Regions of Colorado, overseeing various medical specialties for adults, adolescents, and pediatrics. πŸ’Ό

In addition to her healthcare background, Deanyale has also embraced her native Haitian-Creole heritage and pursued studies to become a certified Herbalist and Life Coach. She is building an international network with farmers to provide holistic healing that focuses on both physical and mental well-being. 🌿

As an ambitious learner, Deanyale is currently a student at the Keystone Mortgage Academy, where she is gaining the fundamental knowledge and wisdom needed to address housing disparities and open doors for people who share her background. She firmly believes in using her education to make a meaningful difference in the lives of others. πŸ’ͺ

But wait, there's even more! Deanyale is also an upcoming student at the US Institute of Diplomacy, where she aims to earn a Four-Tier Certification as a Human Rights and Civil Rights Consultant by 2024. This incredible achievement will enable her to work in partnership with the United Nations, advocating for at-risk youth and making a positive impact on their lives. Her work as a board member of the MJCF Coalition, supporting families and children affected by the Child Welfare System, aligns perfectly with her future endeavors. 🀝

With every step she takes, Deanyale's journey is truly guided by a higher power. She is a beacon of courage and generosity, embodying the change she wishes to see in the world. Her commitment and hard work will undoubtedly benefit the board and the communities we serve. We are honored to have her on our team! πŸ™Œ

Please join us in welcoming Deanyale T. Dixon-Scott to the Urban League of Metropolitan Denver's Executive Board of Directors! Let's work together to create a brighter future for all. 🌟🌍
