At Awaken Your Lioness Spirit, we're more than a non-profit organization; we're a beacon of hope for imprisoned women seeking renewal and purpose. 🦁💫 As a faith-based 501c3, we stand committed to reaching out to those who feel lost, oppressed, and without hope.

🔗 Our Mission: Restoring hope, dignity, and integrity to imprisoned women is our driving force. Through resources such as affordable housing, recovery, life skills, and a supportive community, we empower these women to prosper and break free from cycles that have held them back.

🌿 Our Vision: We envision a world where imprisoned women reclaim their strength, embrace self-love, and find a path to long-term healing. By breaking down societal barriers and extending love and compassion, we're creating a ripple effect of restoration for generations to come.

🌟 Our Story: Founded by Terry DeAragon, Awaken Your Lioness Spirit emerged from a deep desire for change. Terry's personal journey through adversity fuels her passion to empower women, drawing strength from her own experiences of overcoming trauma, abuse, and addiction. Her encounter with Jesus transformed her life, inspiring her to share love and grace with those who've walked similar paths.

✨ Join us in this transformative journey as we believe that our past doesn’t define us, and through divine order, our spirits guide our lives toward healing and purpose.

You Are Allowed to Pause
You don't owe everyone an immediate answer.
⠀
For some women, the automatic answer has become "yes" before they've even had time to ask themselves:
⠀
Do I actually want to do this?
⠀
Do I have the capacity for this?
⠀
What will saying yes require me to say no to?
⠀
A pause gives you space between the request and your response.
⠀
Try:
⠀
"Let me get back to you."
⠀
Those few words can create enough space to notice what you actually want.
⠀
That pause is where awareness can become choice. 🤎
⠀
💬 What might change if you gave yourself permission to pause before answering?

🦁 YOUR $19.99 CAN HELP CHANGE HER NEXT CHAPTER.

What if your monthly gift could help a woman begin seeing herself and her future differently?

A woman who has spent years questioning her worth, carrying emotional pain, or repeating patterns she doesn't fully understand deserves the opportunity to discover that her past doesn't have to define what comes next.

At Awaken Your Lioness, we believe healing begins with understanding, connection, and compassionate support.

Your $19.99 monthly donation helps provide trauma-informed coaching scholarships, nervous system education, emotional healing support, and practical tools that empower women to:

💛 Understand themselves with greater compassion
🌿 Recognize and release old survival patterns
🦋 Reclaim their voice and rebuild self-trust
✨ Create a future rooted in peace, purpose, and possibility

You may never know the woman whose life your generosity touches, but your support could become part of the foundation she builds upon.

Together, we're making healing more accessible, one woman and one new chapter at a time.

💛 Become part of her foundation.

**You may still be in the environment that hurt you, but you don't have to navigate it alone.** 🤎

Sometimes one of the hardest parts of healing is realizing that the people around you may not understand what you're experiencing.

Maybe you're still surrounded by some of the same relationships, patterns, or circumstances.

Maybe you're beginning to recognize that something isn't okay, but you aren't sure what comes next.

This clip from **Unraveled & Rising** offers an important reminder:

**There are people who want to see you do well.**

Finding support doesn't mean you have to have everything figured out.

It can begin with one safe person.

A support group.

A community of people who understand.

A counselor, advocate, mentor, or someone who can listen without judgment.

Sometimes healing includes intentionally directing more of your energy toward the people who support your well-being instead of continually trying to convince people who don't.

You deserve relationships where you can be heard, supported, and reminded that you don't have to carry everything by yourself.

**You may still be finding your way, but there are people willing to walk beside you. We are here.** 🤎

💬 **Reflection question:** Who are the people in your life who genuinely want to see you heal, grow, and do well?

A Boundary Is Not a Punishment
A boundary isn't something you do to another person.
⠀
It's something you decide about what you can offer, what you need, what you will participate in, and what you will no longer carry.
⠀
Sometimes that sounds like:
⠀
"I can't do that today."
⠀
"I need some time before I answer."
⠀
"I'm willing to help with this part, but I can't take on all of it."
⠀
A boundary doesn't have to be angry or harsh to be clear.
⠀
You can be compassionate and still mean what you say. 🤎
⠀
💬 What would a clear, compassionate boundary look like for you today?

Have you ever wondered why something that happened years ago can still feel so present?

Your mind may know it is over, but your body can still respond as if it is happening right now.

When the same conversations, fears, and regrets are replayed, those responses can become familiar patterns. But familiar does not mean permanent.

What has been practiced can also be changed.

In my latest article, I share how awareness, the brain’s ability to create new patterns, and intentional choices can help us stop responding from the past and begin creating something new.

Notice What Leaves You Drained

Have you ever walked away from a conversation feeling exhausted and wondered why?
⠀
Sometimes your body notices something before you've put words to it.
⠀
Who do you feel tense around?
⠀
What conversations leave you depleted?
⠀
Where are you repeatedly saying yes when something inside you wants to say no?
⠀
You don't have to immediately judge it, fix it, or make a major decision.
⠀
Start by noticing.
⠀
Because when you begin paying attention to what drains you, you also begin discovering what you may need.
⠀
Awareness creates choice. 🤎
⠀
💬 What have you been noticing lately?

**What if, instead of being angry with your body for how it responded, you thanked it for trying to keep you safe?** 🤎

There may have been moments in your life when you didn't have the ability, resources, or support to change what was happening around you.

So your body adapted.

Maybe you became hyperaware of everyone else's moods.

Maybe you learned to stay quiet, shut down, please others, or always be prepared for what might happen next.

And years later, you may find yourself wondering:

*Why do I still respond this way?*

Here's another question to consider:

**What if that response once helped you get through something really difficult?**

You don't have to shame yourself for the ways you learned to survive.

You can begin with awareness and compassion.

*Thank you, body, for doing what you knew to do.*

*Thank you for protecting me when I needed protection.*

*And now, I can begin learning what safety feels like today.*

Your survival responses don't have to define your future.

**Awareness creates choice.** 🌱

Your Energy Is Precious

Not everyone needs unlimited access to you.
⠀
Your time, attention, emotional energy, and presence are valuable.
⠀
Sometimes we become so accustomed to being available that we don't stop to notice what it costs us.
⠀
Protecting your energy isn't about shutting people out. It's about becoming more intentional about where you give yourself and recognizing when you've reached your capacity.
⠀
You can love people deeply and still have limits.
⠀
You can care and still protect space for yourself. 🤎
⠀
💬 What deserves more of your energy right now?

**What you see when you arrive may not tell you what happened before you got there.**

This is such an important part of understanding domestic violence.

In this clip from **Unraveled & Rising**, our guest shares her experience with law enforcement responding during an abusive relationship.

By the time help arrived, she describes her partner as having already released his anger and appearing calm, while she was still highly emotional, angry, and overwhelmed.

From the outside, someone might look at the calmer person and assume they're the reasonable one.

And look at the person who is crying, yelling, angry, or emotionally overwhelmed and assume they're the problem.

But what happened in the minutes, hours, or even years before that moment matters.

Our guest went on to volunteer with TESSA in Colorado Springs, answering the domestic violence hotline and learning more about these dynamics. She shares how that experience deepened her understanding of why training for those responding to domestic violence situations matters.

This conversation is also an important reminder for the rest of us:

**Don't assume the person having the biggest emotional response is the person who caused the harm.**

There may be a much bigger story behind what you're witnessing.

Trauma-informed understanding asks us to become curious about the whole picture, not simply judge the moment in front of us.

Reclaim Your Energy

How much of your energy are you giving away without even realizing it?
⠀
To worrying about how someone else feels.
⠀
To saying yes when you want to say no.
⠀
To being available because you feel like you should be.
⠀
To carrying responsibilities that were never completely yours.
⠀
Reclaiming your energy doesn't mean you stop caring about people.
⠀
It means you begin including yourself in the care you so freely give to everyone else.
⠀
Your time matters.
Your needs matter.
Your capacity matters.
⠀
And sometimes, reclaiming yourself begins with one small boundary. 🤎
⠀
💬 Where in your life are you ready to reclaim a little of your energy?
