This year, we also started a new tradition and community service activity within our club! 💚

At our October meeting, we not only had a lot of fun, but collected donations for the Volusia Basket Brigade of non-perishable foods such as canned goods, gravy and stuffing that will go in boxes "stuffed" with Thanksgiving essentials for families in need in Volusia County this year!

When we posted the sign up, originally the goal was to fill one box, then two, and finally three boxes from the generosity of our members and families. Thank you to everyone for contributing!

It's almost Halloween – and with Volusia County Fair, national contests, Thanksgiving and much more on the way – it was time to celebrate! 🎃🏆🦃

Over 60 members and their family members gathered for our October club meeting on Monday, featuring a yummy baked potato bar dinner, a business meeting with reminders and updates, games and activities led by our officers, plus our first community service project of the season.

Thank you so much to the Carbino and Portillo families for coordinating the festivities, the ALA FL Unit 127 in Lake Helen for hosting us, and to everyone for joining in the fun!

One more spotlight as National 4-H Week wraps up! 🍀

Meet Biminy, our Parliamentarian this year!

Biminy joins us as a dual-enrolled member from Indian River County, is a seventh grader, and in her fifth year in 4-H and second year as a club member!

Her 4-H projects include beef, poultry, rabbits and goats. This year, she hopes to become a more confident leader and positive role model for other 4-H members.

She also has big goals for the club, "I would like to assist Mia in having our club increase our involvement in community service. I would like our club to work together on a project that helps the community while teaching members the importance of teamwork, leadership, and giving back to others."

Her favorite thing about 4-H is that it has broadened her horizons in agriculture, making career connections and lasting friendships!

Today, Friday, wraps up National 4-H Week! 🍀

Let us introduce you to Skye, one of our Recreational Leaders this year!

Skye is from Pierson, in fifth grade and in her third year as a 4-H member!

Her 4-H projects include swine and goats, and this year, her goal is to start showing her heifer! Skye also hopes to see everyone be kind to one another and help each other with their projects in the club this year.

Of course, her favorite thing about 4-H is showing animals!

It's Throwback Day of National 4-H Week! 🍀

Meet Abby, also a 4-H alumni and one of your club leaders!

One of our very own club alumni, Abby now lives in DeLand, and was a 4-H member for five years and is in her tweflth year as a volunteer!

Her 4-H projects included poultry, sheep, goats, rabbits and leadership, and today, she serves as a club leader and the coach for the county poultry judging program.

For the club this year, Abby hopes to continue building the legacy of the club, on the local, state and national levels, through helping youth and families achieve success! She also hopes to see members achieve their personal goals.

"You don't know what you can do until you try!"

Thursday of National 4-H Week is Throwback Day! 🍀

Meet Lori, a 4-H alumni, and one of your club leaders!

Originally from Indiana, Lori now lives in DeLand and between as a member, parent and volunteer, has been involved with 4-H for nearly *50* years!

Lori's 4-H projects included beef and other livestock as a member, and now she serves as a club leader and the coach for the county livestock judging program.

This year, she hopes to build a community of ever-growing youth with supportive parents who strive to make the most of every opportunity.

As a lifelong 4-H member, Lori knows firsthand what 4-H offers to those who take advantage of opportunities offered to them, and says...

"4-H can take you places, that you have no idea where you may go, but if you try...it may surprise you!"

National 4-H Week is here! 🍀

Let us continue celebrating by introducing you to Hunter, one of our Health and Safety Officers!

Hunter is from Oak Hill and in tenth grade, and in his tenth year as a 4-H member!

Hunter's 4-H projects include goats and sheep, and his goals this season include for him to make the state livestock judging team, and for the club to have more active member involvement.

Finally, his favorite thing about 4-H is all of his friends!
