CASA of North Alabama

CASA of North Alabama CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) program assists the juvenile dependency court and advocate for the best interests of children.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate) of North Alabama is committed to promoting awareness of child abuse and neglect in our area. We hope to provide trained volunteers to advocate for every child in the judicial system. CASA programs assist the juvenile/family court in carrying out its role in the child protective services system. The CASA volunteer is the "eyes and ears and often the heart of

the court". CASA is the only volunteer organization that empowers everyday citizens as officers of the court. In an overburdened social welfare system, abused and neglected children often slip through the cracks among hundreds of current cases. Each volunteer only cares for 1-2 cases at a time to ensure that each child is receiving the attention they deserve. Contact us today to find out how you can volunteer!

Today we proudly welcomed a new group of CASA volunteers sworn in to serve the children of Morgan and Limestone Counties. 💙

These incredible individuals have answered the call to stand beside children who need a voice, an advocate, and someone who will show up consistently during some of the hardest moments of their lives.

Becoming a CASA volunteer is more than a title, it’s a commitment to ensure every child is seen, heard, and supported.

We are deeply grateful for each volunteer who took this oath today and excited for the impact they will make in the lives of local children. Please join us in congratulating and welcoming our newest CASA advocates!

Want a chance to win a TurtleBox Speaker and help CASA with our mission?! If you sign up for the $50/month option, your name will go in a drawing for a brand new TurtleBox (color TBD).

☕ For as much as a few cups of coffee each month, you can help a child know they are not alone.

Right now, there are children in our community facing uncertainty and challenges no child should have to endure. Through CASA of North Alabama, they have someone who shows up just for them, someone who listens, advocates, and reminds them their voice matters. ❤️

Our Monthly Donor Campaign helps make that possible.

A monthly gift of just $10, $25, or $50 may seem small, but to a child in foster care, it can mean stability, support, and having a dedicated advocate by their side during one of the hardest times in their life. Every dollar stays right here in Limestone and Morgan Counties!

For as much as:
• ☕ One coffee run a week
• 🍔 One fast food meal
• 📺 One streaming subscription

…you can help change a child’s story every single month.

When you become a monthly sponsor, you’re not just making a donation, you’re helping give children hope, consistency, and a voice when they need it most.

Be A Voice. Bring Hope. Change A Child’s Story.

We had the honor of participating in the Save Jane event hosted by the Limestone County Child Advocacy Center, and it was a moment that will stay with us.

1,143 names were read aloud, each one representing a child right here in Limestone County who has been impacted by abuse. Hearing those names was both heartbreaking and powerful, a reminder of why CASA’s mission matters so deeply.

Every child deserves to be seen, heard, and protected. We are grateful to stand alongside organizations like the Limestone County Child Advocacy Center as we continue to advocate for the most vulnerable in our community. It takes a village to protect and advocate and the village showed up at the event. Representatives were there from the CAC, the sheriffs office, Athens, city police, DHR, the school system, judges, lawyers, and many more. We are so thankful for this community that rally together to love on these children to protect them.

Friends! We are in need of one more dinner to be covered for our CASA of North Alabama volunteer training class.

Our wonderful trainees are coming straight from work, and providing dinner is a small way to say thank you for their time and commitment. We will have 7 people total.

Thank you so much for your support ❤️

Thank you to Smoke Competition Cooking Team, Rebecca Dillard, and Tim McCollum for providing dinner the past several weeks!

🔵☑️EVERYONE Can Do something☑️🔵
We have a lot of great resources in our community!

🔷Ensuring the well-being of children is a shared responsibility. Friends, family, and other trusted adults can help by developing nurturing, supportive relationships with the children in their lives. Volunteering as a mentor at an afterschool program or offering to babysit are other ways to help.

🔹Neighborhood associations can connect families to resources and other neighborhood adults to help with household tasks or with childcare.

🔹Employers can adopt or support workplace policies that help families, such as livable wages, paid leave, and flexible and consistent schedules.

🔹Everyone can recognize the challenges that families face and offer support and encouragement to reduce stress. Help encourage parents and caregivers to ask for help when they need it. Everyone can also support efforts to:

🔹Adopt policies in support of families (such as family-friendly work policies).
🔹Increase access to high-quality childcare and education.
🔹Create safe places or neighborhood activities where children are supervised, and families can gather.
🔹Provide access to free or low-cost evidence-based parent training.
🔹Discourage violence and help ensure the safety of all members of a community.
🔹
🔹Public health practitioners, partners, and other professionals also play a vital role in preventing child abuse and neglect.

🧑‍🧑‍🧒🧑‍🧒 Parents and Caregivers 🧑‍🧑‍🧒‍🧒🧑‍🧒

🔷Young children experience the world through their relationships with parents and other caregivers. The quality of these relationships and the environment in which they develop, play a significant role in a child’s development. Parents and caregivers can:

🔹Know who is supervising your child when they’re outside your home.
🔹Set aside time each day to talk or play with your child.
🔹Establish routines. Children feel secure when the environment is structured for them.
🔹Validate your child’s feelings and offer physical and emotional support.
🔹Teach your child how to stay safe when they’re online or on digital devices.
🔹Seek parenting skill training programs to help build stronger relationships with your children.
