The DeRidder High School Rodeo Club, established in the 1960s by the DeRidder Rodeo Assoc., promotes rodeo, sportsmanship, and Western heritage while fostering youth involvement throughout Beauregard Parish. The DeRidder High School Rodeo Club was formed by the DeRidder Rodeo Association over 50 years ago, dedicated to fostering youth involvement in the sport. The mission of the DeRidder High Scho
ol Rodeo Club is to promote the sport of rodeo and the highest level of conduct and sportsmanship and to expose its positive image to the general public. It also seeks to preserve the Western heritage, and to offer opportunities for family bonding, as well as for continuing education, all while maintaining the highest standards of care for livestock. The organization traces its roots back to 1960, when the DeRidder Rodeo Association held its first high school rodeo. The creation of the Junior High Division in 2004, for students in grades 5 through 8, brought in still more students. Additionally, the DeRidder Rodeo Association organizes, manages, awards and pays out scholarships at it’s annual rodeo held each spring at the Beauregard Covered Arena.
