๐ฌ๐พ Central Region Junior Agriculture Leadership Program Tour ๐๐งฌ
Yesterday, Beauregard Parish 4-H members Samuel and Haylee had the opportunity to participate in another exciting Central Region Junior Agriculture Leadership Program experience, visiting both Alma Plantation Sugar Cane Mill and Continental Genetics.
At Alma Plantation Sugar Cane Mill, students got a firsthand look at the incredible journey of sugarcane. From harvesting in the fields to transportation, extraction, separation, processing, and ultimately the export of unrefined sugar, they were able to see each step of the process in action. It was an eye-opening experience that showcased the technology, hard work, and teamwork involved in bringing agricultural products from the farm to consumers around the world.
The group also toured Continental Genetics, where they explored the fascinating world of animal reproductive technology and genetics. Students learned how semen is collected, evaluated, processed, packaged, and stored for artificial insemination. They also gained insight into the importance of genetics in livestock production and how Continental Genetics provides products to producers across the globe, specializing in bovine genetics.
Experiences like these allow our young leaders to see the many career opportunities available within agriculture while gaining a deeper understanding of the industries that play a vital role in feeding and supporting our world.
