Please join us for Intergenerational Worship on Sunday, November 1, at 10:30 am (don’t forget to turn your clocks back Saturday night). Children are welcome to grab kid’s worship bags in the Lower Narthex. We will continue our fall stewardship stories series. Stewardship is more than financial giving; it is an expression of our gratitude to God for the many blessings we have received and our commitment to sharing those blessings with others.

Pastor Blake will be in the pulpit with his message “Trust Along the Journey” based on Matthew 25: 14-30. The Psalm reading is Chapter 90 verses 1-8, 16-17.

Over the next few weeks, we’ll be focusing on stories of stewardship in our local community as well as Jesus’ parables about wealth, generosity and trust. In our passage today, there’s a fairly reliable dynamic at play: two siblings struggling to share with one another. Jesus hears their concerns and then gets to the root of their angst. Pastor Shelby asks us to consider how we too confuse our possessions with our treasures. Being a good steward is important, but where, how and in whom we place our trust is at the root of life-giving discipleship.

Our passage today concludes our time in Exodus. For several weeks, we've heard familiar and surprising stories. We've waded through waters, parted seas, the desert and the wilderness. And we've noticed time and time again God's wisdom, provisions and grace at play. As we listen to Moses' plea following the peoples' worship of the golden calf, Pastor Blake encourages us to consider all the lessons we have learned when imagining God's glory. How will we use these foundational lessons to reimagine God's glory in our neighborhoods and world today?
