These words stopped us in our tracks the first time we read them. 💜

Because this is exactly why Promise Hill Project exists.

We don't show up to fix anyone. We don't arrive with pity or with the quiet belief that we are somehow more fortunate and therefore more worthy. We show up because we are connected. Because the suffering of one woman, one girl, one community - anywhere on this earth - diminishes all of us.

When a girl in the Maasai or Samburu tribe misses school because she has no access to period products, that is not her problem. It is ours.
When a woman cannot read a medication label, a shelter form, or a job application because she has no access to reading glasses, that is not her problem. It is ours.
When a mother cannot provide clean water, food, or basic hygiene for her children, that is not her problem. It is ours.
We are not here to help from a distance.

We are here because we refuse to look away. 💜

Think about everything you read today. 👁️

A text message. A street sign. A prescription label. A form you filled out online.
Now imagine trying to do all of that - with blurry vision, no insurance, no doctor, and nowhere to call home.

For our unhoused neighbors over 40, vision decline is natural. But going without reading glasses when you're already living on the margins means so much more than squinting. It means:

👓 Missing the bus because you can't read the schedule
👓 Being turned away from a shelter because you can't fill out the intake form
👓 Taking the wrong dose of medication because the label is a blur
👓 Losing a job opportunity because the application was unreadable
👓 Being unable to understand legal documents that affect your safety

These aren't small inconveniences. They are barriers between a person and the help they desperately need.
Last year, reading glasses were the single most popular item at our distribution booth. People didn't just want them - they needed them.

63 million volunteers across the United States. And we are so proud to know some of the very best. 💜

Last week we celebrated National Volunteer Week - and we took every second of it to honor the people who show up for our mission with their time, their energy, and their whole hearts.

No nonprofit survives without volunteers. No meal gets served. No hygiene kit gets packed. No person living under a bridge feels seen. It all starts with someone deciding to show up - and our volunteers show up every single time.

This Easter, access to proper meals became possible for residents in Mount Sterling, Ohio. This tiny village is labeled as a food desert, where access to fresh, nutritious food is extremely limited.

Through this outreach, food vouchers for turkey and ham were provided to 95 families and 189 individuals, giving them the opportunity to enjoy a meaningful holiday meal with their loved ones.
Because something as simple as a holiday meal should never feel out of reach.

A heartfelt thank you to the incredible team at Mount Sterling Community Center for opening your doors and allowing us to be a part of this very special outreach event.

A look back at 2024 💚

This is a reminder of what can happen when people come together with purpose.

Through this initiative, 20,000 period products were collected and distributed, helping restore dignity, support education, and meet a basic need that too many still go without.

Because the reality remains: 1 in 5 girls in the U.S. miss school due to lack of access to period products.

This is what coming together can achieve.
And it’s a reminder of how much more we can still do.
