These words stopped us in our tracks the first time we read them. ๐
Because this is exactly why Promise Hill Project exists.
We don't show up to fix anyone. We don't arrive with pity or with the quiet belief that we are somehow more fortunate and therefore more worthy. We show up because we are connected. Because the suffering of one woman, one girl, one community - anywhere on this earth - diminishes all of us.
When a girl in the Maasai or Samburu tribe misses school because she has no access to period products, that is not her problem. It is ours.
When a woman cannot read a medication label, a shelter form, or a job application because she has no access to reading glasses, that is not her problem. It is ours.
When a mother cannot provide clean water, food, or basic hygiene for her children, that is not her problem. It is ours.
We are not here to help from a distance.
We are here because we refuse to look away. ๐
Lilla Watson said it better than we ever could. So we will let her words lead.
If you feel it too - if you believe that none of us are truly free until all of us are - then you are already part of this mission.
Come. Let us work together. ๐
