🌍 To the Youth of Our World: We Celebrate You.

Today, we recognize and celebrate young people everywhere who are refusing to simply inherit the challenges of our world—but are choosing to help shape its future.

In particular, we celebrate the young people stepping forward to embrace the Five Voices of the Blue Economy—learning to see our oceans and coastal communities through the perspectives of government and policymakers, industry and finance, environmental organizations, local communities, and science and academia.

You are doing more than learning about the Blue Economy. You are developing a new way of thinking, questioning, collaborating, and solving problems around some of the most important ocean-related challenges facing our world today.

The question is not simply, “What kind of ocean will the next generation inherit?”

Perhaps the deeper question is:

“What kind of generation are we preparing to steward the ocean they inherit?”

When we give young people knowledge, a voice, and a seat at the table, we are not merely preparing them for the future—we are empowering them to help shape it.
