WHY THIS MATTERS TO STORM 💛

Every young person has a story. But their circumstances should never be the only thing that defines it.

In Portland, Oregon, an organization called Outside the Frame is doing something powerful.

They’re helping young people who have experienced homelessness and instability discover their voices through filmmaking.

Not simply telling their stories for them—but giving them the tools, opportunities, and confidence to tell those stories themselves.

And that’s an important distinction.

At STORM Center of Hope & Service, we believe young people are more than the circumstances they’ve experienced.

They have strengths waiting to be discovered.

Voices deserving to be heard.

Talents worth developing.

And the capacity to make meaningful decisions about their own lives.

This is the heart behind our Lead Your Story approach—helping young people recognize their personal agency and build confidence in who they are and what they can accomplish.

When we create opportunities for young people to discover their strengths, we’re not just helping them overcome challenges.

We’re creating space for them to recognize what has been within them all along.

💛 Watch this inspiring story and consider:

Are we giving young people enough opportunities to discover and demonstrate their potential?

WHY THIS MATTERS TO STORM 💛

What happens when a young person ages out of foster care but doesn’t have a safe, stable place to call home?

For too many young adults, the transition into independence comes without the support system many of us have relied on throughout our lives.

But one Texas family is working to change that.

The Montgomery family in Elgin, Texas, is creating a tiny-home community for young adults who have aged out of foster care.

Their vision goes beyond providing a roof. It is also about creating a sense of family, connection, and belonging.

And that matters.

At STORM Center of Hope & Service, we believe the journey from crisis to stability requires more than meeting an immediate need.

Young people need trusted relationships, opportunities to develop life skills, access to resources, and a community willing to walk alongside them.

Independence should not mean isolation.

We love seeing communities recognize that young adults transitioning from foster care still need a village.

💛 Here’s a question for our community: What role can each of us play in helping a young person build a stable future?

Watch this inspiring Texas story and share your thoughts.

Today is North Texas Giving Day—and somewhere in North Texas, a young person is facing a crisis without a safety net.

Where will I sleep tonight?

How will I get my next meal?

How will I get to work without transportation?

Who can I call when I have no family support?

For many Pathfinders, these are not hypothetical questions.

STORM Center of Hope & Service serves youth and young adults ages 13–28 who may be navigating foster-care transitions, CPS involvement, homelessness, housing instability, and other barriers to emotional wellness and independence.

We work in the in-between: the vulnerable space between crisis and stability.

STORM responds to immediate needs through services such as emergency lodging, meals, transportation, essential support, and resource navigation. We also help Pathfinders strengthen personal agency—the understanding that they have a voice, choices, and the ability to take meaningful steps toward the life they want.

Through Lead Your Story and other life-skills experiences, young people build confidence, practice resilience, prepare for independence, and begin investing in what comes next.

Your donation helps provide:

💛 Immediate assistance during a crisis
💛 Time to pursue a safer, longer-term solution
💛 Resource and housing navigation
💛 Transportation and essential-needs support
💛 Life-skills and personal-agency development
💛 Caring relationships and continued encouragement

Our North Texas Giving Day goal is $10,000.

Please give before midnight:

Already donated? Thank you. Please share this post and personally invite someone in your network to support STORM.

Together, we can help transform the in-between from a place of vulnerability into a place of stability, personal agency, and possibility. 💛

You may not be able to open your home—but can you open your heart? 💜

At STORM Center of Hope & Service, we support vulnerable youth and young adults impacted by CPS, foster care, housing instability, homelessness, and other barriers to stability and self-sufficiency.

Our work is about more than meeting an immediate need. It is about helping young people know they are seen, supported, and not alone as they move from crisis toward stability.

As North Texas Giving Day approaches, we are working toward our $10,000 goal to strengthen our year-round services and continue creating meaningful support for the young people we serve.

Will you help us reach our goal?

WHY THIS MATTERS TO STORM 💛

Texas’ foster care system has been undergoing major changes following years of concerns surrounding abuse, neglect, and the way services are delivered.

But when systems change, we cannot lose sight of the young people living inside those systems.

At STORM Center of Hope & Service, our concern goes beyond where a young person is placed today. We are also thinking about what happens tomorrow.

Who helps them prepare for adulthood?
Who helps build their confidence and life skills?
Who supports their emotional wellness?
Who helps make sure a transition from foster care does not become a transition into homelessness?

Reform matters. But continued support matters too.

Take a few minutes to watch this CBS Texas report and learn more about what is happening within Texas foster care.

💛 We believe every young person deserves more than survival. They deserve stability, support, opportunity, and hope.
