We are excited to announce that the MREA has been awarded an Accredited Training Provider, PV Associate from the Interstate Renewable Energy Council (The Interstate Renewable Energy Council (IREC))!

“Receiving this IREC credential for our updated PV Associate program is meaningful to the MREA because it demonstrates our ongoing commitment to solar education that is focused on student success. This award validates that our curriculum, instructors, and processes have undergone intense third-party scrutiny and that we remain in good standing as recognized training providers in this dynamic industry,” states Curriculum Director, Jenny Heinzen.

MREA started the Rise Up Scholarship program in 2020 with a goal to expand access to solar workforce training. Six years and over 100 students later, we are grateful to be continuing this work.

MREA's Training Director recently shared some thoughts about the impact of the program and her first hand experience with the students who have participated in 2026.

With your help, we can keep this important work going to bring education and opportunities to more Midwest communities. We have a goal of raising $10,000 by the end of October, and thanks to some incredible partners and individuals, we're well on our way at $6,400.

If you're able, we'll hope that you'll consider a donation to the scholarship to provide 2027 recipients with high quality, in-person training that prepares them for employment in the solar industry.
