The remnants of Arthur continue to produce thunderstorms and the threat of potentially life-threatening flash flooding along the central Gulf Coast today. Isolated strong to severe thunderstorms may produce gusty winds across parts of the Upper Midwest, central Plains, and across parts of the Sierra into the northern Great Basin. There is a fire risk in the West due to dry thunderstorms, and windy, dry conditions.

A front that slipped into North Alabama today will move back north on Saturday, bringing in more moisture. Sunday, a low‑pressure system to the west pulls deep Gulf moisture northward, setting up widespread showers and storms. Monday stays unsettled as the low keeps influencing the area. Saturday will be warm and partly sunny, with highs in the mid‑80s and just a small chance of afternoon pop‑up storms, mainly south of Birmingham. Sunday turns more active, with highs in the upper 80s, clouds increasing through the day, and a high chance of afternoon and evening storms, some with heavy rain. An unsettled wet pattern will linger through early next week. Low to medium rain/storm chances (10-40%) Friday and Saturday before they increase to high chances (60-90%) Sunday and Monday. Highs will be in the 80s with lows mainly in the 60s.

Today's forecast is looking delightfully dramatic, with partly cloudy skies and highs in the mid-80s, but don't get too comfortable because showers and storms are crashing the party tomorrow and Sunday. Daily rain chances will keep on coming through the weekend and into next week, with Sunday being the main event for shower and storm enthusiasts. And because you can't have too much of a good thing, highs in the mid-80s will stick around through next week.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible Friday, but with a lower 30% chance. Saturday drops to a 20% chance, then Sunday climbs back up to 60%. Monday increases to an 80% chance, and by Tuesday it’s 50%, with temperatures staying below average thanks to all the recent rainfall. Looking ahead, some models suggest above-average temperatures could arrive around July 1st and 2nd as high pressure moves in, bringing the potential for some hot weather.

Radar update: The remnants of Arthur continue moving off to the northeast. As of 6:53 PM this Thursday, scattered showers are still appearing across the area, but most of the activity is pushing out of the region.

Some heavier showers or storms down around center. Currently all that is tracking on off. To the North NE. We will continue to get multiple rounds of showers and storms today and answer tonight. Heavy rainfall, gusty winds, some flash flooding possible. Overall light rain across the area.
