" Senior Farmers’ Market Vouchers
June 1 – October 31, 2026
Starting June 1st , the Area Agency on Aging (AAA) of Dane County will distribute farmers’ market vouchers to older adults for use in purchasing $25* of Wisconsin grown fruit, vegetables, or herbs at farmers’ markets and roadside farm stands.
The vouchers are distributed on a first come/first serve basis to those age 60+ or Native Americans age 55+, who live in Dane County, and have gross incomes under $29,526 per year (or $2,461/month) for a one-person household and $40,034 per year (or $3,337/month) for a two-person household. One set of vouchers is available per person.
Individuals that received and redeemed vouchers last year will automatically receive an application by mail this year. If you wish to apply to the program, or need to update your mailing address, contact AAA Clerk Cindy Matulle at 608-261-5678 or [email protected] Applications will be mailed out in the middle of May. Once applications are received and approved, vouchers will be mailed starting on Monday, June 1st.

" Heading out trout fishing in Wisconsin this season? You can help protect our waters from the spread of aquatic invasive species (AIS) by taking a few simple precautions. Small steps can make a big impact.
Recently, a population of non-native New Zealand Mudsnails was discovered in Seas Branch, a Class 1 trout stream in Vernon County. Aquatic invasive species, such as New Zealand Mudsnails, can attach to waders, boots, and other fishing equipment and spread to new waterbodies.
Help protect Wisconsin’s trout streams by cleaning your gear every time you leave the water:
– Drain all water from waders, boots, and gear.
– Remove any attached plants, animals, and mud.
– Scrub waders and boot treads to remove small and hard-to-see invasive species, like New Zealand Mudsnails.
– Dry waders and gear as long as possible before entering another waterbody.
– Consider freezing waders and boots 24 hours before using them in a new stream.
– Consider using separate waders and boots if fishing at multiple stream locations in one day.
Check out this quick video on how wading anglers can help prevent movement of AIS:
