It’s with sorrow that we share CAA’s announcement that longtime ADS member and former licensed official Lore Homer has passed away. We extend our condolences to her daughter, Karen Homer-Brown.

ADS has a member driven Rule Change Process, which means that ANY ADS member can suggest a rule change and it will be considered by the relevant committee(s). If it makes it through the committee review, it becomes a Rule Change Proposal (RCP), which then goes up for member comment. Our annual member comment period for the 2027 Rulebook opened yesterday, July 1, and is open until July 31.

Members have the month of July to carefully review the proposals and submit their comments on each RCP. It is our hope that all members will consider each RCP carefully (there are 35 this year) and comment on each thread with their feedback.

Members can submit their comments in two different ways. The first and most interactive option is by using the Forum. Simply visit www.americandrivingsociety.org, click on "Member Login" (you MUST be logged in to comment), and from the Member Login menu select "Forums". Select the Forum titled 2027 RCP Member Comments. Each RCP has its own thread. Click on the thread, review the RCP, and then click "Reply" to leave your comment.

The alternative option is to submit comments on the RCPs listed in the draft linked at www.americandrivingsociety.org/Rulebook to [email protected]. You must include your name and member number to have your comment recorded (Member comments without names or member number will not be recorded). Comments submitted with name and member number via email will be added to the compilation.

Once the member comment period has ended, all member comments are compiled and shared with the tech committees who have opportunity to make changes to the RCPs by Sept 1. The final RCPS, along with the compiled member comments, are then sent to the Board of Directors, who take member feedback into close consideration when casting their votes to approve or decline a Rule Change Proposal at the Fall Board Meeting.

Questions? Email us at [email protected].

Thank you for participating in this very important and unique process.

There's a heat wave blanketing a large portion of the US and Canada this week. What measures do you take to keep your animals safe and comfortable when the temperatures skyrocket?

I am sorry to report that despite big improvement over the weekend, our website is working poorly again this morning (with minute+ load times and Gateway errors). We immediately reported the issue and asked our host, Club Express, for an update. This outage is effecting most, if not all, of their thousands of websites.
Because our email blasts run through our website (which isn't functioning reliably), a Facebook post is the best way to reach our members to give you updates.
Thank you for your patience as we urge our host to develop a viable solution,
Abbie Trexler
ADS Executive Director
