The Northcoast Marine Mammal Center rescues and rehabilitates sick and injured marine mammals so they can be released back into the wild. Our mission is to educate the public on the impact we have on marine mammals and the importance of preserving the oceans where they live.

Happy Wednesday followers!
Here are some updated pics of a few of our patients!
California sea lions Madison, Tres, Capโ€™n Hook, Skye, Cloud and Phillipe are doing well. They all came in malnourished and dehydrated and had/have wounds. They are all stable and gaining weight!
Jane is our Pacific harbor seal that came in with wounds and a very large abscess on her rear flipper. She had a procedure done yesterday and had a drain installed. She is on daily wound care, antibiotics and pain medication. She is starting to eat fish and she is a very feisty girl!!

Garth is one of our newest patients at the center. She is a Pacific harbor seal pup that was rescued from Garthโ€™s beach here in Crescent City. She came in dehydrated, a bit underweight and with multiple wounds on her left side, hence her glamour shots all being on the right! She is receiving wound care, antibiotics, pain meds and harbor seal formula around the clock.
Despite the large lacerations on one side of her body, she is what we refer to as BAR (bright, alert and responsive) She is active and vocal and we are cautiously optimistic that she will make a full recovery! Go Garth!! โค๏ธโ€๐Ÿฉนโ›…๏ธ๐ŸŒŠ๐Ÿฆญ๐Ÿ˜

Kenai and Denali were rescued two days apart, dehydrated and at birth weight, despite being a few months old. Today they got to return to their ocean home after learning to eat fish and doubling their weight in rehab!
ETA: This is a very normal elephant seal release. These guys take their time with everything they do! They are also very curious so they usually take it all in (slowly) before heading out ๐Ÿ˜Š
