Good morning from your team at Ambersong Outreach! We are excited to share a few updates, as we have had a lot going on these past few weeks.

August we celebrated 1 year of being in business! Although the work we’ve been able to do is remarkable, it’s only a microscopic dent in facing the opioid crisis and reversing the harms that stem from substance dependency.

💜We closed our first year with 14 reported overdose reversals, partnerships with more than 10 local businesses that now have & distribute Naloxone through Ambersong.

💜We were presented with an opportunity to support the Brookings Fire Department & ensure EMT’s and Paramedics have enough Naloxone to respond & immediately treat every potential overdose call they receive.

💜We have created an online community & safe space for those in recovery to connect with one another centered around celebrating recovery and empowering the voices of those with loved experience while making meaningful connections & gaining valuable leadership skills.

💜Together, our community helped provide 2,905 homecooked warm meals to our neighbors facing food insecurity or hunger. Through this program we had the opportunity to really get to know a lot of the individuals directly effected by these complex social problems and harms stemming from drug use.

💜We got 1,896 doses of Naloxone into the hands of community members in 12 months, (About $113,000 of Naloxone into our community at no cost to those who utilized our program)

💜 14 confirmed and verified potentially fatal overdoses were reversed through our program.
14 times we didn’t let overdose win.
14 families spares from having to say goodbye.
It may not sound like much, but anyone who has lost someone to overdose can tell you the significance ot saving just 1 life.

So, now what?
👉🏼Virtual or In-Person Public Overdose Education & Naloxone distribution or distributor locator.
👉🏼Fochsing our efforts on overdose response and working with the community and every day laypeople, as well as businesses, schools, local politicians and those in positions of power, to formulate new strategy that will boost community engagement and care.
👉🏼More time for advocacy work, connecting individuals with treatment options near them, helping our community comfortably navigate the varying approaches to healing, mental health, sobriety, family wellness.
👉🏼Connect more individuals, families, and friends with the plethora of support resources and options for treatment or medical intervention or support.
👉🏼Find & train new volunteers in CA. (Message us for more info!)
👉🏼 Help others set up Harm Reduction efforts in their community!
👉🏼Continue Naloxone Distribution & advocate for drug use safety!
👉🏼Develop new and innovative programs that address the drug crisis & benefit communities

Thank you all for your patience and continued support. Remember, Ambersong can be reached via email at any time.

7 overdose reversals reported!
2845 meals served to date!
1394 doses of narcan distributed!
We have multiple local distribution sites set up at businesses all throughout Del Norte County. Naloxone (Narcan) cannot be self administered when someone is overdosing. We have hope that with continued community engagement we can continue to decrease the stigma around substance use & eventually end overdose.

We have added Dr Mayers office as a distribution point, coastal taxi, st Vincent DePaul, Park City Superette, Hambro recycling, & now the SSI office. Thank you to all of those who have joined us in the fight to end overdose.

Rest in love Aaliyah.. Im calling on all of our Ambersong people.. If you can, donate.. it would mean a lot… If not, even just sharing helps. Finances should be the last thing a family has to worry about in a time like this. We send our deepest condolences to her friends, family, and loved ones. There’s also a donation bucket set up at the Park City Superette & the Norris Family Kitchen for those located locally.

We are incredibly honored to share that Ambersong Outreach recently obtained its first official partnership with Hematology Oncologist, Dr. Richard Adrouny. Words cannot describe the amount of gratitude that comes along with his regard or recognition of our efforts. "I deal with death in my line of work every day, your organization is trying to do something about that, and I would love to be a part of it." Dr. Adrouny shared. We know that with his support we will be able to reach new heights, touch more lives, and save more families. Thank you Dr. Adrouny for all that you have done both in your line of work, and on behalf of our organization. It's no small feat going eye to eye with death, and we admire all of your efforts and resiliency. 🧠💜

We are in need of waterbottles for meal distributions this weekend by our street outreach team.. You’d be shocked how much a bottle of water makes a difference in the lives of others who don’t live with the luxuries we may have🫶🏼

Amber is now being honored and remembered as
a part of the National Addiction Memorial put together by shatterproof. Over 150 webpages dedicated to sharing the stories of those who lost their battle with addiction, and honoring each one of them. Shatterproof is another fantastic resource when searching for additional educational information. Their mission is similar to ours, only on a much larger scale. They are fighting to end stigma and shame, reinvent treatment centers and options, and advocating for everyone whose life has been impacted by substance use, both directly and indirectly. 🧠💜🫶https://www.shatterproof.org/nationalmemorial/amber-hirst

Everything you do today, everything that you did yesterday, and everything that you will do in the years to come is out of your own free will, today we honor all of those who have lost their lives to make that possible. Without their bravery, dedication, courage, and strength each and every one of our lives would look significantly different. America is the land of the free, only because of the brave. Take a moment to honor all of the fallen soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice, a debt that we can never fully repay. Today, we honor the brave. Today, we remember freedom does not come free.
Thank you to all of those who have served in the United States military, and to all of the families who have sacrificed along the way. There is nothing more honorable, and the team at Ambersong Outreach extends our deepest gratitude and appreciation. ❤️💙🤍

From childhood Best Friends, to new moms building a non-profit in hopes to support those still struggling with addiction and mental health disorders- and what she has to say to those still battling the disease of addiction. How our newest board member, Ivy Groop, is using her story of addiction and recovery to encourage others to live a happier and healthier life, free from addiction. –Ivy is fierce, and she always has been.

You guessed it! Ambersong Outreach has a blog that is now up and running and will be updated regularly! Check out our first real posting, a story that I love to share. In the weeks to come you will have a chance to get to know some of our team members better as everyone has a chance to contribute to our blog. You will be able to read stories about Ambersong Outreach, memories of Amber, noteworthy news or information that we share amongst our team, and for the first time ever- we will be shedding light on our own personal journeys with grief, loss, recovery, substance use, and most importantly healing. Or as our CEO, Jerry Campbell calls it "sort of like a diary, but that we share officially with the world."

Click the link to read the story of Ivy and I's (Destiny) friendship, from 12 to 24- as both of our worlds were turned upside down by substance use read how we both have managed to navigate paths of healing and are now partners in a nonprofit that is striving to create a world more equipped to support mental wellness, and end overdose. There's nobody else I would rather have beside me changing the world.

I love you, Ivy. Thank you for everything.
