Meet Janet Covington, Business Manager for Through the Gate and CFC Cleaners!

When Steve felt called to start Through the Gate in 2014, Janet was right beside him. She was working at Purdue University at the time, and she served as his sounding board, adviser, and biggest supporter as the ministry got off the ground.

Janet later left Purdue to join Through the Gate full-time, and today there's hardly a part of the ministry she doesn't touch. She teaches and counsels the women in our program, writes the grants that help keep our doors open, and serves as business manager for CFC Cleaners (Cleaning for Christ), whose proceeds support our mission.

At home, Janet homeschooled their two children, and today she's "Mimi" to four grandbabies.

Janet, thank you for pouring your heart into the women of Through the Gate, the CFC team, and your family. We couldn't do this without you!

Meet Steve Covington, Founder and Executive Director of Through the Gate!

Years ago, while volunteering in a women's prison, Steve noticed something he never expected. Women nearing their release dates weren't excited. They were scared.

Again and again, a young woman would ask him to pray for her because she didn't know where she would go when she got out. There were very few programs for women, and without a safe place to land, freedom felt more frightening than hopeful.

That burden became Through the Gate. In 2014, Steve and his wife, Janet, opened a Christ-centered home in Crawfordsville, Indiana. What began as a reentry program has grown into an 8-month faith-based women's recovery program for women seeking freedom from addiction and other life-controlling issues.

Steve served for many years as an associate pastor and lead pastor, and even planted a church, before stepping down to lead Through the Gate full-time. He's also a proud father of two and grandfather of four.
