NAAFE 2027 Abstract Submission Now Open

Abstract submission for NAAFE 2027 (15 to 18 March 2027, Beaufort, NC) is open from 15 October to 1 December 2026. Abstracts may be submitted to one of eight special sessions or 19 general sessions, for oral or poster presentation.

BEST PAPER AWARDS: Abstracts due 31 October
Two Best Paper Awards are offered this year. Each winner receives complimentary conference registration plus participant support.
To be considered, submit your abstract by 31 October 2026 and select the award on the abstract submission form. Award applicants’ abstracts will be reviewed on an expedited timeline, with notifications by 15 November. Full papers are due 31 December 2026.

BEST STUDENT PAPER AWARD
Open to: graduate students (currently enrolled, or graduated on or after 31 December 2025)
Presentation: oral only
Judged on: journal-quality standards, including creativity, originality, and contribution to theory, methods, and/or application

DANIEL K. LEW BEST PAPER AWARD
Open to: undergraduate and graduate students, and early-career researchers within five years of their highest degree
Presentation: oral or poster
Judged on: research contribution and potential impact, not writing polish. Early-stage work is welcome.
For both awards, applicants must be the primary author, and papers must address an economic topic relevant to the Forum themes. Graduate students may apply for one award, not both.

BEST PRESENTATION AWARDS: Abstracts due 1 December
Students can also compete for the Best Student Oral Presentation Award, and students and early-career researchers for the Best Student or Early-Career Researcher Poster Presentation Award. Opt in on the abstract submission form.

NEW WORK ONLY: Work previously presented at any NAAFE Forum or IIFET Conference is not eligible for any award. We rely on the honor system, but submissions will be checked.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Madan M. Dey, Professor in the Department of Agricultural Sciences at Texas State University, on being named a Fellow of the International Institute of Fisheries Economics & Trade (IIFET)!

This prestigious honor recognizes Dr. Dey’s 35+ years of transformative contributions to aquaculture, fisheries, and seafood trade economics worldwide. From pioneering the AsiaFish model to ranking among Stanford University’s Top 2% Most Influential Scientists, his research, mentorship, and policy impact have shaped the global seafood industry.

Dr. Dey will deliver a keynote address, "A Fish Is a Fish Is a Fish? Unpacking Demand Heterogeneity, Accessibility, and Market Dynamics for Global Aquaculture and Fisheries Planning," at the 22nd Biennial IIFET Conference in Tórshavn, Faroe Islands, from August 17–21, 2026.
