Remember the ones who have gone before us. Memorial Day is coming up on May 25th. There is a lot that Montezuma County Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 5231 will be out doing that weekend.
Friday the 22nd we will be placing flags on graves of veterans throughout the county. Cedar Grove, Summit Ridge, Arriola, Sunny Side, Lebanon, and more. Join us if you can.
Saturday the 23rd is Buddy Poppy Drive day. We will be at many stores in the area. The Buddy Poppies are something the VFW has been doing for 103 years now. The funds stay local and assist with us helping veterans, VOD/PP scholarships, and more. Your generosity is greatly appreciated. Your donations keep our Post alive and well.
Sunday is a day we stand down to allow our families to pay honor to their Veterans.
Monday the 25th is the day we do our Memorial Ceremony at the Wall in Cedar Grove in Mancos. The event begins at 11am. We will have some seating available. The wall has stones that the Post sells and places. Let us know if you are interested in having one on the wall for your veterans.
Memorial Day is the Day to remember the fallen and those that have gone before us. Our Post provides Honor Guards for funerals. Every Veteran deserves a proper military service. As their brothers and sisters we are honored to do it. Reach out to us if this is something you would want for your veteran.
We certainly appreciate the support the communities provide our Post. We are a part of your community and it is not lost on us who you are as well.
