Montezuma Inspire Coalition - MIC MIC is a collaboration of organizations working to together to get kids and their families outdoors!

WHO IS THE MIC?
• A group of 10+ organizations and members in and around Montezuma County who are collaborating to get youth outside and connected to nature
• MIC has received funding from Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) to create a diverse multi-year program to connect youth and our community with the outdoors

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?
• Kids in the United States today only spend an average of 4-7 m

inutes outside per day in unstructured play
• Children who spend less time outdoors experience a wide range of behavioral problems ranging from limited respect for their natural surroundings to obesity, ADD, and even depression
• We want to build a stronger community in Montezuma County for our youth and their families

WHAT IS OUR VISION?
• To create a system where we engage youth beginning in preschool and empower them through high school and beyond with age-appropriate outdoor curriculum and program activities in and out of the school setting
• We will develop PLACES, PROGRAMS, and PATHWAYS to teach, develop and empower the youth in Montezuma County
• Our GOAL is to instill in our youth and families a stewardship and compassion for the outdoors that will follow them throughout their lives

This exciting program cannot run with less than 4 riders, and currently we have 0 signed up for it. Registration will only be open until June 10th, and there are 8 spots available. BIRD DETECTIVES: A FAMILY WALK AT DENNY LAKE - this Saturday, MAY 9TH!

Bring the kids and explore the birds of Denny Lake together! This family-friendly walk is designed especially for kids and their parent(s) or caregivers. We’ll take a short, easy stroll around the lake while learning how to spot birds, listen for their calls, and discover what makes them unique.
Perfect for curious young birders—no experience needed. Free and open to families (at least one adult required per family). Bring your binoculars, or we will have a couple extra that can be shared!

Tour sponsored by the Montezuma Inspire Coalition, whose mission is to connect youth to the outdoors!

IMPORTANT INFO: You will be meeting Gabi with Montezuma Inspire Coalition directly in the parking lot at DENNY LAKE at 8am. Pre-registration is required, 15 people max.
