It's not fair that those who have done the least to cause climate change are facing climate impacts like these. That's why we're pushing Congress to act.

The U.S. is responsible for nearly 5 billion metric tons of global emissions every year. Things need to change — fast.

Earth scientists are in the early stages of analyzing the devastating debris flow but say it fits a pattern fueled by global warming.

Last month, 750 CCL volunteers made permitting reform a central topic of more than 400 meetings with Congress. Now, we're continuing to see encouraging news that permitting reform will be a central topic when the Senate reconvenes after the August recess.

We're grateful to Congress s for their continued attention and efforts on this topic. The faster we reform the permitting process, the faster we can get new clean energy sources online.

U.S. Senate Majority Leader John Thune says energy permitting reform is a rare chance for bipartisan action as utilities face growing electricity demands.

To fully explore carbon pricing advocacy, including our options moving forward, CCL has partnered with Resources for the Future to launch a brand new, six-part virtual learning series. The first session, “Current Economic Consensus on Carbon Pricing” will take place Thursday, Sept. 3.

This kickoff will provide a baseline foundation for everyone, whether you’re new to carbon pricing or have been advocating for it for years. You’ll hear how leading researchers approach the policy, what decades of data tell us about its effectiveness, and the key design choices policymakers face.

This event is open to the public. Learn more and register at cclusa.org/carbon-pricing-series 🔗

Lobby Day is our biggest advocacy event of the year, where hundreds of CCL volunteers come to Capitol Hill for in-person meetings with Congress. This year, 750 volunteers from all 50 states came together to talk about climate and clean energy with the people who have real power to change things.

And after all that meeting preparation and running around Capitol Hill, we ended with our traditional reception and dance party! 💃 Thanks to everyone who joined us and worked hard to make this year's Lobby Day a success.

Part 1 of our Carbon Pricing Education Series kicks off September 3! Everyone is welcome to RSVP here: cclusa.org/part-1

This first session will cover the basics of carbon pricing and explore how researchers talk about it. We will also examine key design elements policymakers need to consider when crafting a new policy.

This session is part one of our public, six-part series in partnership with Resources for the Future. Together, we're learning what a decade of real-world carbon pricing can teach us—and how that knowledge shapes stronger, more durable climate advocacy.

Americans paid $217 on average for electricity last month, according to Heatmap and MIT’s Electricity Price Hub.

Clean energy is less susceptible to dramatic price fluctuations and helps keep utilities like electricity affordable. We need to reform the permitting process to bring more clean energy online and connected to the grid 📈

Americans paid $217 on average for electricity last month, according to Heatmap and MIT’s Electricity Price Hub.

This year’s wildfire season has surpassed its 10-year average for both the number of fires and total acres burned. Right now, more than 99 large fires are burning, with significant damage in the Pacific Northwest happening right now.

If you’re in an affected area, or know someone who is, tell Congress your concerns! Use our wildfire action tool to ask your representatives to take action: https://community.citizensclimate.org/tools/wildfire-action

Thousands have been forced to flee fast-moving wildfires in Washington and Oregon.

Citizens' Climate Lobby's Summer Conference & Lobby Day 2026 🇺🇸

Last week, more than 750 CCL volunteers gathered in Washington, D.C. for our Summer Conference before heading to Capitol Hill for 400+ meetings with congressional offices.

These photos capture our absolute favorite time of the year. There's truly nothing like everyday people showing up and proving that respectful citizen advocacy works. Thank you to everyone who joined us and made this year so special!
