In a recent Senate Agricultural Committee hearing, Chairman Boozman committed to getting the Fix Our Forests Act across the line and to the President's desk! 🎉

He also took time to thank the lead co-sponsors of the bill for both parties and thanked a bipartisan group of members in both chambers for their votes. We're encouraged to see progress on this bill, which protects lives, livelihoods, and lands by reducing wildfire risk, strengthening local economies, and ensuring science-based forest restoration

Every spring, Congress takes an annual recess between late March and early April. Most senators and representatives return home, spending time in their districts alongside constituents. Because this is a prime time for face-to-face interactions, CCLers make an extra effort to drop off information and constituent letters.

This year, CCLers came through! Check out these creative drop-off ideas in our latest blog ⬇

From letter drop-offs to poems and podcasts, these chapters proved proved that our advocacy work goes far beyond D.C. lobby meetings — it comes to life in meaningful interactions.

To commemorate the feeling of your first conference, we asked a few veteran CCLers to tell us about their first experience in D.C. The answers far exceeded our expectations.

Even though CCL’s focus is advancing federal climate action, there’s nothing like a local stewardship event to remind us what we’re working to protect 🌳 Recently, Chicagoland Citizens' Climate Lobby partnered with the Chicago Parks District to support a native plant initiative on Northerly Island. More than 20 volunteers pitched in to remove the last of the plants' protective cages and prep branches and logs for the island's nature play space for children.

Way to go Chi-towners!

ICYMI: This May's Monthly Call featured Shane Londagin, Senior Policy Advisor for Energy and Climate for Sen. John Hickenlooper (CO).

Shane manages Senator Hickenlooper’s energy portfolio on the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee and supports the Senator’s leadership in bipartisan permitting reform negotiations, grid modernization efforts, and critical minerals policy.

We're grateful to Shane for sharing his perspective, especially around permitting reform legislation in the Senate. It's definitely worth checking out the recording if you couldn't make it live 👇

CCLers showed up this Earth Month in creative, fun ways — while also rolling up their sleeves to be good stewards of their own backyards.

We’re excited to announce that Jigar Shah will join CCL’s 2026 Summer Conference & Lobby Day lineup as a keynote speaker!

Shah served as a former Director of the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office, where he helped transform the federal government’s clean energy investment strategy. He also co-founded SunEdison and Generate Capital, which largely invented low-cost, infrastructure-as-a-service financing.

Today, he co-hosts the "Energy Empire" podcast and the “Open Circuit” podcast. Shah earned a well-deserved spot on the 2024 TIME100 list of the world’s most influential people as an energy entrepreneur, investor, and strategist.

You won’t want to miss the chance to hear his insights firsthand — plan to join us in D.C. for his talk on July 27: https://cclusa.org/15d
